Evergrey Lose Three Members 2010-05-18 by Phrike | 8 Comments | Swedish progressive metal band Evergrey have announced that Henrik Danhage (guitar, backing vocals), Jonas Ekdahl (drums) and Jari Kainulainen (bass) are leaving the band by mutual decision.
Frontman Tom Englund explained: "The last tours, recordings and just hanging with each other has not been as fun and giving as earlier AND before it would go too far, resulting in a collision in between friends, which could ruin everything we have built up during the years, we decided to call it quits."
Danhage and Ekdahl have departed to focus on their side project DeathDestruction. Kainulainen left due to his deep involvement in the band “Killing machine” and the fact that, according to Englund, "they could offer him a salary we couldn’t."
Evergrey have quickly found replacements in the form of:
Marcus Jidell (Royal Hunt) - guitar
Johan Niemann (ex-Therion, Mind’s Eye) - bass
Hannes Van Dahl - drums
The band are currently record a new album, the release date for which has been set for October 14.
