Thom Yorke to play with Flea

2009-09-28 by Ayashi | 32 Comments
Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has just revealed on the group's Dead Air Space that he will be joining forces with Flea and other musicians for a few Eraser song gigs. Needless to say, this should be pretty good.

Quote:

hi

in the past couple of weeks i've been getting a band together for fun to play the eraser stuff live and the new songs etc.. to see if it could work!

here's a photo.. its me, joey waronker, mauro refosco, flea and nigel godrich.

at the beginning of october the 4th and 5th we are going to do a couple of shows at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles.

we don't really have a name and the set will not be very long cuz ..well ...we haven't got that much material yet!

but come and check it out if you are in the area. we've also got locals Lucky Dragons playing.

all the best

Should be pretty cool despite the fact that Flea is massively overrated

This is incredibly outlandish. But then again, are we talking about Thom Yorke...? Okay.

I don't see whats so weird about it. Flea is a great musician, whether you like the RHCP or not ( i
don't). It's not like he's going to be doing slap bass song after song.

Does everyone realise that this is a band to play Thom's solo work not some big new supergroup, it clearly says they're playing the Eraser stuff and the new songs...not that they're writing new songs

God, I hope he doesn't let flea do anything. He better write the bass [art and get angry if flea tries to improvise.

i'd like to know how flea is "massively overrated"? The man has worked with countless artists and plays in so many different styles. Hes a very important figure in modern rock music, has influenced countless others that try and copy his styles, and prob one of the best bass players in MAINSTREAM rock...sorry had to get that off my chest.....oh and this project should be interesting

Popular and overrated seem to go hand in hand unfortunately.

mmm some people still can't understand that shredding isn't all there is to music...phrasing, note choices, space...it's all part of the recipe.

Curse.

Radiohead and RHCP members on the same stage. I'd rather listen to Barry Manilow.
