Behemoth Confirm Release Date

2009-05-19 by jingledeath | 31 Comments
Behemoth will release their new album Evangelion on August 7 via Nuclear Blast in Europe and August 11 via Metal Blade in US.

Frontman Nergal commented: "Evangelion combines a pure art form with a direct message. It was also important for us to ensure that the graphical presentation did justice to the record. Again, we have worked with Tomasz Danilowicz who has created his best illustration yet for Behemoth. The picture is of The Great Harlot of Babylon riding the seven-headed beast. Saints bow before her in worship whilst the tablets of the Ten Commandments lie broken at her feet. It represents our vision and the interpretation of the New Testament parable where the "Whore of Babylon" is a symbol of rebellion and resistance against God."

He continued: "I am fascinated by stories whose source lies in the Bible and we have used biblical symbolism, coupled with my own experience and outlook, in our lyrics or on the covers of previous Behemoth records. I love to juggle with meanings and play around with symbolism which is exactly what I have done in this case. The main character of our new cover is an archetype of disobedience, individualism, self-determination and a free, unfettered will – these are universal keywords which are typical and crucial in understanding the character of our works, life as a whole and the true nature of man."

The cover art for Evangelion can be seen below.

...???
Whatever...as long as the music is good, the lyrics could be describing a poppy field for all I care

Behemoth, in fact, do not suck. This probably won't top Demigod, but it has potential. either way i can't wait to hear how fucking ridiculous inferno is on this album

Any band constantly name dropped by Revolver Magazine, the very same one who spolighted Hollywood Undead, has got to suck. Just kidding but this band is obnoxious. Apparently the singer of Devil Wears Prada is friends with a dude(s) from this band.

The artwork is pretty flippin' sweet. Here's hoping it's an improvement from The Apostasy.

Ill be so pissed off if its a second Apostasy, some of the songs were so weak especially Nergal's vocals.

And I don't like them (or their stance), but that artwork is pretty well-done. And that guy is waaaay too pretentious.

lol calling nergal pretentious is equally as ignorant of his beliefs as most anti-christian black metal bands are of Christianity. His statement is incredibly well thought out and makes total sense. Just because he uses big words and you disagree with it does not make it pretentious.

sweeeeet.

I approve of Behemoth to an extent. The Apostasy isn't nearly as bad as people say it is. However, compared to Demigod it is pretty average.

I love Demi God, I really liked Apostasy as well and I'm looking forward to this album. Hopefully I will be releasing this in India if all goes well. I've been a Behemoth fan and I'm stoked about this release.

Wonder if they will be able to spell 'of' right this time.

They aren't. I saw the video of them tracking vocals (which, btw, sounded killer, better than the vocals on The Apostasy), one of the titles has 'ov' in it. I don't remember the full title, something with fire.

Anyway, album will be very good.
