"Shadows Fall Form Their Own Label In Conjunction With Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group and Ferret Music.

New Album Due This Fall

Shadows Fall have announced the formation of their own label in conjunction with Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group and Ferret Music. The band will release their 6th studio album this Fall. More details coming soon.

Lead singer Brian Fair has this to say about his bands new venture:

"All of us in Shadows Fall could not be more excited about our new working relationship with ILG and Ferret Records. We have always been a band that tried to maintain as much control over our career as possible and this new deal gives us just that. The music industry is changing drastically and to stay one step ahead we knew we needed a new business model and perspective. By combining the forces of ILG, Ferret Music and Channel Zero we have created a "Justice League Of Metal"!!

Shadows Fall boast an impressive resume including two Grammy nominations; Best Metal Performance for "Redemption" off Threads Of Life in 2008 and "What Drives The Weak" off The War Within in 2006. The band has sold upwards of 1 Million units worldwide. They've graced dozens of magazine covers including Revolver, Decibel, Outburn, Metal Edge (RIP) and Metal Maniacs (RIP) while being championed by Rolling Stone, Spin, Alternative Press, Guitar World and Hit Parader."

If they go back to the style they used on The Art Of Balance/Of One Blood/Fear Will Drag You Down I will be getting it, but I'm not holding my breath. This Message Edited On 03.17.09

I liked Threads Of Life, but I don't think it would be a wise move on their part to continue down that route...
I'll still be checking this out whatever happens though.

They're an awesome live band. I've seen Brian Fair's dreads get tangled in the lead guitarist's tuning keys on stage while headbanging, one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

I actually had a chance to talk to the guitar players of shadows fall at a bar a few months ago while they were recording this, or beginning to write the songs.
They were supposed to open for Avenged Sevenfold that night but M Shadows cancelled because of his voice, so Shadows Fall were all chillen at the bar next to the venue, where I was able to talk to them.
They told me that this album was going to have longer songs and a "darker" attitude. When I asked him why darker he said "well cause we're angry as hell dude".
I told them they should put another acoustic instrumental on this album.
They were pretty cool, talked for like 45 minutes.

^Hells yeah dude!

But seriously I hope they step it up. Threads of life was boring as hell. The only thing I dug on the album was the acoustic instrumental, which is something they have always done so well.

Hah thats pretty much exactly what I said to him. I also asked him what he thought of people like Matt Heafy from Trivium and other guys in that whole "scene".
But actually the most interesting thing was talking to him about how All That Remains, Unearth, Killswitch, etc...all came from the Mass. area at the same time and how they all used to play small places together and stuff. Surprisingly enough he was talking about how cool they were with the guys in Staind and stuff. I didn't tell him how much I hated Staind, but if he says they're cool guys I'll take his word for it.

They're basically apologizing for Threads of Life. "Yeah, we fucked up signing to Warner Bros. We'll be back."

I'm just hoping for a returning sound from 'Of One Blood' and 'The Art of Balance'.
