Float melds the fierce and powerful traditional Irish music that founder Dave King grew up to with the punk rock sensibilities that have captured hearts and minds across the world. Set to hit via SideOneDummy Records on March 4th, Float is just the record to propel the band to the next level. More mature yet retaining the immediacy that marks all of their work, Float will undoubtably find the widest audience acceptance of any Flogging Molly album. The album is packed full of fist pumping, dance inducing tracks, but interspersed throughout are sobering songs that draw you in emotionally. The album goes from boisterous to bereaved and back again. Float is a brilliant record from the band that has single handedly defied all expectations and become a bright and shining star for their loyal and dedicated fans.

Flogging Molly hasn't needed to rely on commercial radio or video play to achieve their cult-like status. The band's rabid fan base was formed almost solely as a result of their incessant touring and DIY approach. The group's combined album sales in the US are currently over 1 million and their shows consistently sell out all over the world. Flogging Molly's most recent album, "Within A Mile Of Home" debuted at #1 on Billboard's Independent Artist Chart and #20 on Billboard's Top 200 Chart, and their 2006 DVD documentary release "Whiskey on a Sunday" was recently certified "Gold" by the RIAA.

St. Patrick's Day may be a couple of months away, but for Flogging Molly the festivities start February 1st, when they kick off their annual Green 17 tour. Now in its 4th year, the tour was created to spread out the revelry of St Patrick's Day, which is traditionally celebrated each year on March 17th, to 17 cities across North America. The Green 17 Tour packages Flogging Molly with artists that represent music from a diverse musical spectrum. The band's live show is a lightning-fast, frenzied, sound-driven journey; don't miss the opportunity to see them on this special annual tour.

You piss me off to no end. Flogging Molly rawks even though every single song sounds exactly the same and Dropkick Murphys do their style about 10x better.

EDIT: I dreamt I'd met William Hyde Wollaston, and he was not at all bitter.

I don't own any of their stuff, but they always seem to put out good music. Maybe I'll finally check them out this time.

Their "style"? You must be refering to the celtic influence that is way more prominent in Flogging's music as opposed to Dropkicks. While they're both great, fun bands...FG is way more diverse and talented that Dropkick....therefor, FG do the "style" way better.

Press release makes this sound like self-indulgent shit, but I'm pretty sure this will rule. This Message Edited On 12.07.07

They are a touring machine, partially why that one member left for some time. I've listened to them at concerts more than I have on CD. It's hard for them to capture that energy on a disc.
