RIP Bonnie Tyler 2026-08-20 by arthropod | 6 Comments | Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler died in Faro, Portugal at the age of 75. Prior to her death, she underwent an emergency intestine surgery and was temporarily put in induced coma, ultimately passing on July 8.
Born as Gaynor Hopkins on 8 June 1951, the singer came to be recognized for her distinct, raspy voice, which developed after a vocal chord operation. She's best known for the hit album Faster Than the Speed of Night and multiple radio classics, including "It's a Heartache", "Total Eclipse of the Heart", "Holding Out for a Hero" and "If You Were a Woman (And I Was a Man)".

Stale news but was hugely surprised this wasn't reported already. She was a huge part of my childhood. May she Rest in Peace.
| | | Yeah, the lack of reaction on the site baffled me. Her music was with me all of my life.
A funny recollection of mine is that, as a kid, I used to think the woman singing in I'd Do Anything for Love was her (which supposedly was the plan initially). Another associated song that I love is the Polish rendition of Totale Finsternis from the Dance of the Vampires musical. Eclipse is beautiful but Na orbicie serc is just something else.
