i liked their last album even though it was disappointing, so i am still very excited for this. the vocal effects might be annoying but if they cut out a lot of their pointless instrumental parts then it will be really good. they had that in Frances the Mute but it didnt take away too much from the album

lol, i went to that video (above) and i had coheed and cambria playing accidently and i was like: Wtf? they sound like C&C!!

Not digging the vocals on that video above, but the instrumentation was great, rhythm section being the standout.

Mars Volta have gradually gone worse. their best is de-loused, frances the mute is ok, amputechture sucks and then this one will be horrible

Psh, I agree with the complexity issue with TMV...but hell, its hard to say they're not awesome at what they do.

just listened to the new one. and thomas pridgen owns that set almost as hard as jon theodore... then again, he did win the guitar center drumoff at 9 years old and get sponsered by zildjian at 12. not to mention get a full scholarship to berklee at 15.
