Motorpsycho say neigh!!

2024-06-28 by dynamic range police | 7 Comments
Norway's unreasonably prolific psychonauts Motorpsycho have no intention of holding their horses. Neigh!! comes out on August 23rd, and a second single is now available to the public. Gallop to Bandcamp to pre-order the album and download the two singles.

"Psycholab" is now available through Bandcamp in its full 5:40 form, after being released as a single edit: https://motorpsycho.bandcamp.com/album/neigh

"All My Life (I Love You)", the new poppy single, can be heard below.

lol I see the final "let's horse" after the video didn't make the cut

anyway the full version of Psycholab definitely feels more complete to me, and All My Life is so addicting (chorus bass!). It seems the album will have a couple longer songs too. Hyped. Could be the kind of massively catchy album that slowly conquers my brain

Am I the only one who thinks these new singles suck??

Band is awesome, but I feel they've mostly been floundering since that big trilogy.

So the band posted on instagram that "All My Life" is actually a cover of song recorded in 1972 (but issued in 2000!) by Skip Spence.

"Am I the only one who thinks these new singles suck??"

idk, I really like both this and "Psycholab" for sheer catchiness. "All My Life" kind of brings to mind some of the old "short and cheap"-feeling songs they used to place here and there (but with the current hippie personality).
It's a quick transitory 90s-in-spirit album because they've gone full indie from what I understand, in the sense that they now have their own label and won't even collaborate with Stickman Records anymore. So I can respect the levity

"I feel they've mostly been floundering since that big trilogy."

I can agree about Yay being a contender for their weakest main studio album ever (it's so easy to fall right at the bottom when you typically make awesome albums hahah), but I think the two before it are great.
Kingdom of Oblivion is aging really well for me, it's Motorpsycho with an interesting dose of Black Sabbath worship in certain songs and a general medieval-ish feel in others. It's relatively unique, I think.
And Ancient Astronauts is basically the big trilogy but condensed in 40 perfect minutes lol, I love it too

why do I always type so much for this band 🥶

This is one of those bands where no matter what they do I am here for it. If they are doing their catchy bops, or their prog behemoths, or strumming an acoustic or getting weird it seems to click with me. Even though Yay! was weak compared to other recent records I still return to it a lot as passive listening while I am at work and also Hotel Daedalus is a top 10 song from them 30+ years into their careers.
