One of their best songs ever. This and Playing God bode well for the new album
| |
track titles are hilarious, love these guys
| |
Good song but man, I really hate how drums sound on their songs
| |
This is better than the other singles for this new album, really liked Vai's part
| |
This absolutely rules. Just tasty lick after tasty lick
| |
Jesus, that was fucking epic
| |
Damn Steak, I didn't notice it was the closer until now... Oh well. Still a banger.
| |
Alright, this one was killer. Not always a fan of these guys but this was super well done.
| |
won't say this is bad, cause there's cool stuff here, but it's modern in a way that i find extremely off-putting.
also doesn't sound like music that can be performed live and sound like it does on this track. no doubt these guys are great at their instruments, but i don't see them standing on a stage, rocking out like they are in the video and ending up sounding anywhere close to this. too much studio wizardry. i'd like to be proven wrong.
| |
Lichtbringer, aside from the drums, you'd be surprised by how well these guys sound like with their new music.
Edit: the drums are great live, they are just live drums and not a drum machine.
| |
This is actually awesome, was nervous after the last single but part of the charm of this record is going to be that its all over the place in a good way
| |
I'm just interested in the song with Brasstracks
| |
That was quite exceptional. Contrasting styles meld to make something really euphonic. Really well-produced video as well.
| |
They definitely know how to play
| |
These clowns make me so embarrassed I ever thought the guitar was such a cool instrument
| |
Care to elaborate DamnVanne? I feel these guys are the most innovative thing to happen to guitar music in a while. It's especially cool that instrumental music like this is doing well with the casual listener.
| |
I love how butthurt people get over music like this. New album is shaping up nicely
| |
The song itself is really quite spectacular, it's too bad you can't hear the guitars because they thought it'd be a cool idea to only include the mid frequencies and make it sound like their "amps" are wrapped in 30 blankets.
Vai straight up went in, though. Sick feature.

It’s the art. They’re insanely good at dexterity and time-keeping and that’s the only sensation that can be gathered from their music. There is zero emotional component, it’s not evocative of anything whatsoever and so it’s a very base art. I’ve been a prog fan for 20 years or so and I can often appreciate music as a sort of mathematical craft even when it isn’t from any place in the heart but bands like these nerds and Chon make this music that is so colorful and yet so fucking vapid
| |
the song is soulless.
| |
Chino to feature on one track, interesting
| |
Also even in a prog context their music is so virginal that they make Covet look like Motley Crue
| |
People say soulless but I think they mean robotic.
| |
Also imagine calling Chon vapid
| |
You can just tell every person in this band grew up filthy rich and got to practice their instruments for 20 years unimpeded.
| |
"You can just tell every person in this band grew up filthy rich and got to practice their instruments for 20 years unimpeded."
I mean let's say we know that's actually true (which we don't), it would still be pretty shitty of you to hold that against them. that's like some poor person entitlement shit
| |
it's not they don't have any soul, it's that their soul is too advanced technically for your less musically developed ears to comprehend. it's okay, i too used to be guilty of thinking in this fashion
| |
"less musically developed ears"
I love elitists.
| |
well i was kind of hoping i wouldn't have to spell it out but i was actually trying to counter balance the "it's soulless technical wankery" reverse elitism with regular elitism. isn't it ironic that you're calling me an elitist for calling out elitism?
| |
“People say soulless but I think they mean robotic. ”
Yes, when I say soulless I mean mechanically played and relentlessly felt. Anyway, this futuristic, cold-toned feel is what Polyphia are all about, the distance they intentionally create I think. I am not devaluing the work.
| |
At least the drums sound more real in this track.
| |
A change of pace
| |
Steve Vai is starting to look like Tony Hawk
| |
Even Steve Vai can't make this band interesting.
| |
"I mean let's say we know that's actually true (which we don't), it would still be pretty shitty of you to hold that against them. that's like some poor person entitlement shit"
lol please be nice to rich people!
| |
I wish they would make an album of material like Playing God
| |
"lol please be nice to rich people!"
i mean it's more like, be nice to people unless they give you a reason to not be nice to them, regardless of how much money they have? wild concept i know. someone in some really impoverished country probably thinks you're rich too
| |
This actually kinda jams hard! Best I've heard from these guys.
| |
someone in some really impoverished country probably thinks you're rich too [2]
Retarded people like Gameofmetal don't realize a simple statement like this.
They get to go onto a board like Sputnik and talk shit on someone's perceived wealth and how it somehow it resulted in x member of the band sounding like they do while not realizing that the internet connection that gives them a platform to actually spout that shit is a privilege that a sizeable chunk of humans don't have access to.
| |
Steve Vai is also a beekeeper
