RIP Gary Brooker

2022-02-22 by JP Patino Izquierdo | 13 Comments
Gary Brooker - founder, composer, pianist, and vocalist for the British band Procol Harum - has died at 76 years old on February 19th after a battle with cancer.

Along with Keith Reid, Brooker composed "A Whiter Shade of Pale" - Procol Harum's most successful hit, one of the seminal songs from the 1960's, and one of the best selling singles of all time.

As frontman of Procol Harum, his influence on 20th century music and rock in general was of great importance, since the band is seen as one of the biggest precursors to what would later be known as progressive rock.

RIP. Procol Harum deserve so much more love than they get. A Salty Dog is a masterpiece. Sound of my adolescence.

Sick of everyone dying. I didn’t know who this was until now, but fucking hell the music slaps, and I’m upset. Some bullshit

I only saw this sad news today. I always admired his compositional style and I always liked the band as well.

Hard RIP. We'll never forget you and we will continue listening your music.
