jesus i hate this band, and i hate myself more for inevitably listening to the entire album once it comes out

They've entered the typical post-fame complacency period. Stadium Arcadium was the last album of theirs that I really enjoyed. I'll probably still skim this when it comes out to see if there are any gems though.

Love what John and Flea did in this song but I still hate Anthony with a fiery passion.

this band really needs to split up. although they suck now i still love the way frusciante plays guitar.

It's a bit flat, but there are some interesting chord choices throughout and the outro (starting at 3:08) is cool... John's lead guitar right where it belongs, taking emphasis off Anthony's vocals

To be honest, RHCP hasn't had a great song since By the Way (Stadium Arcadium is actually awful guys) and they haven't had a consistently good album since One Hot Minute

The pop success of Californication ruined this band... so much of their work after it just seemed to try to be the next Otherside or the next Scar Tissue OVER AND OVER AND OVER

You guys complain about Kiedis's vocals, but the real problem is how predictable and generic they've become

I think this is the first thread where I have seen someone openly prefer One Hot Minute over Californication and By The Way even though it is wrong. (Edit: Nvm, Ars totally loves Mr. Bungle so that makes a lot more sense now.)I am sorry but One Hot Minute has a good Side A, a boring and dull side B. Californication is a consequential album yes, but I prefer it over anything RHCP has done except BSSM. Some edgy opinions in here.

Everything but the vocals was good, if Anthony wasn’t singing with a terrible accent and gave it a little more I think the song would be fine, John sounds great

I feel like I come from a perspective that RHCP was at their best when they were funky so their plainer alt rock songs are often just like zzzzz

as someone who has only listened to 2 RHCP songs in my entire life. I absolute did not hate this. It was kind of a jam.

Will probably be over-hated. It's just a bit bland, which is a shame because it felt like Klinghoffer's presence was pushing the band in some new directions on The Getaway.

Haven’t listened yet but if John is happy then I will probably be happy too, John is one of the single most amazing musicians ever and his solo albums far outweigh RHCP, looking forward to trying this.

Stadium Arcadium was decent but since then there's been nothing consistent. I definitely agree with others that much of their music is generic and predictable with little to get excited about. Flea's still one of the best bassists out there though!

I honestly haven't heard them in a long time, and I also haven't heard anything beyond By The Way from them. And I don't know man, I can understand it's definitely an overplayed band and yea they haven't done anything mind-blowing, but I really think they are far from being bland and generic, at least from BSSM through Californication.
