New Manic Street Preachers Album Trailer

2021-05-13 by Fernando Alves STAFF | 14 Comments
Welsh rockers Manic Street Preachers unveiled a trailer for their forthcoming new album The Ultra Vivid Lament. You can take a sneak peek below.

On the band's new music, Nicky Wire said the following to NME: "It's very broad - it feels like an expansive record. 'Resistance Is Futile' certainly felt more tight and 'pop' in a Manics sense. Everything was really melodic and concise. This album just feels broader. It's got a wider landscape, sonically. It's early days, but 'Orwellian' feels like the one track to guide us. I wouldn't call it a directly political song, but it has that element of the times that we live in."

Wire adds: "Lyrically, I'm just working things out. Since losing both my parents, I've been kind of overwhelmed at that situation. There's a deep-rooted sadness and melancholia that overhangs everything."

One more album from a underrated band. Futurology is one of my favorites.

I hope it's good. I am obsessed with Richey era Manics (including JFPL - what a joy to own the deluxe version with scans of his lyric file), but find it very difficult to get into their more recent records. I tried to listen to RIF but People Give In was so insufferably radio-friendly that I gave up immediately. Maybe I will enjoy TUVL if it's supposed to be more melancholic not only lyrically, but also musically.

lame song. If this doesn't sound like ABBA played by the Clash. I don't know what does.
