2007-08-23 by Epilogue | 31 Comments
In a recent MySpace post, Opeth frontman Michael Akerfeldt had the following to say about the band's new live release:

"The much anticipated live album "The Roundhouse Tapes" (Live at the Camden Roundhouse 2006) will be released through Peaceville records on October 22. The double disc venture will feature the following songs:

"CD1: "When", "Ghost Of Perdition", "Under The Weeping Moon", "Bleak", "Face Of Melinda", "The Night And The Silent Waters"

"CD2: "Windowpane", "Blackwater Park", "Demon of the Fall"

"The (even more anticipated) HD filmed DVD will be released in early 2008. This will also feature (lots of) fan interviews, band interviews, soundcheck footage and live photos + exclusive menu music written by Ã…kerfeldt and Wiberg."

This sounds like its going to be a monster of a DVD. I'm looking forward to the band interviews, I really enjoyed the interview with Mikael on the Ghost Reveries Digipak.

I'd rather have a new album from Opeth. Lamentations isn't that old already.

would the DVD be worth buying? Opeth doesnt seem like a good live band.

Yes yes yes yes yes yes. Bleak, Ghost of Perdition, Blackwater Park live FTW. But the (lots of) fan interviews will probably suck.

The set list on lamentations wasn't as good as it could have been , there was nothing from their first 4 albums!!! This dvd will be much better. Amazing set list, Under a weeping moon, Blackwater park, Face of Melinda, Bleak, FUCK YES!!!!!!!!!!!!

yea I think im gonna check out the DVD but I already own lamentations. But im glad to see Opeth play some of their HEAVY-ER songs live than that whole damnation set. As for a new album, I wasnt expecting that to drop anytime soon and I hope that quality of their music is not gonna suffer due to line up changes..?

Why is Opeth putting out another live dvd when Lamenations came out in 2005? Just looking at the songs they chose for this cd/dvd, I can already tell this is just to tide fans over until their new album comes out. Fuck, Just give me another new album for christ's sake!

Tracklist could be better. Would be if they had more stuff from Still Life, as well as To Bid You Farewell.

Its a little strange that disc 2 is only gonna have three songs. There could be a bonus feature on the DVD that will have more songs like "To bid you farewell" or it would be nice to have "Harlequin Forrest" and "Godheads Lament" live. This Message Edited On 08.24.07

Adding to my comment above, I don't think Opeth could have a bad tracklist for a live performance simply because they have yet to write a bad song!

would be nice with a live CD...

Good tracklist, so let's see what Legolas can bring to the table.

Edit: Godly Setlist*

Looks like a good mix of songs from most of their albums. I think that is a good decision. Can't wait to watch it.
