its... fine. Why would I ever wanna listen to this instead of the original
|
| |
Not sure why I bothered with this, but it's fine.
Without Cornell's unique voice, this song comes off as fairly generic.
|
| |
the fuck is a sevendust
|
| |
Waffle tits on a boar covers black hole sun's other song. Exactly what I wasn't missing from the last decade.
|
| |
Shut the fuck up
|
| |
fight me cowardd
|
| |
Imagine that reaction in real life... people talking about the irrelevance of Sevendust covering Soundgarden, someone walks up to them out of nowhere, says, "Shut the fuck up," and doesn't explain why.
wut
|
| |
Imagine sevendust's actual target audience
|
| |
Guess they thought covering someone else's music would make them relevant/interesting again. Wonder what they'll do when they realise this served them no better?
|
| |
How is Sevendust not relevant? Their single Dirty from their last album has more than 5 million views. I think they're doing fine.
|
| |
How is that possible?
|
| |
Maybe they just love making music and wanted to pay homage to a band that very likely holds significance to Sevendust's crew?
I mean, considering Soundgarden was blowing up right when Sevendust formed and that the band has consistently put out at least one album every three years for the past 2 decades, that doesn't seem too outside the realm of possibility...
Actually, nah, they're nothing more than edgy tryhards trying to get attention in the comment section of a music site
|
| |
I stand by my comment and challenge you to a duel
|
| |
That's actually a nice little tribute. I dig the singer's voice
|
| |
This is a really solid cover. Witherspoon has always been a good vocalist. Of course he's no Chris Cornell but good god who the fuck can compare to that man's legendary voice? No shame in not matching up to one of the greatest rock vocalists ever.
|
| |
Witherspoon has a very different voice and yet he pulled it off. That's what impressed me the most
|
| |
I'll say that while Cornell is an incredible singer, I prefer Lajon's voice in general. Probably my favorite singer actually.
|
| |
Yikes can you imagine what their fans look like uhh yeah yikes senpai
They probably work out and like vaginas like ewie!!!
Irrelevant band, do not post again

this is not the day this thread tried to live

Strait Up - "Angels Son"
Here's the time Sevendust collaborated with Snot as a tribute to Snot's lead singer who passed away.
Song is really good.

--How is Sevendust not relevant? Their single Dirty from their last album has more than 5 million views.--
A YouTube view count doesn't create relevance... Also, that's a pretty low number by today's standards in terms of successful polls.
|
| |
5 million views in YouTube is pretty good for metal actually.
Just say you don't like the band, that's OK. There's no need to cite numbers nor argue about "relevancy" to prove your point.
|
| |
That's pretty short-minded. Why exist at all?
|
| |
Headstrong, I'll take on anyone. Even if everybody was kung fu fighting. When I'm done with you, you'll need some ice, ice, baby.
Ah, relevance.
|
| |
Lol Rob where's the animosity coming from? I don't think anyone, including these guys, thinks covering a 25 year old song would make them relevant. How do you measure relevance anyway?
[Edit] Fun fact: Sevendust's last album peaked at 12 on the UK Rock charts, which is the highest that any of their albums have ever gotten. So they're arguably more relevant than they've ever been. xD
|
| |
so much disdain in this thread
competent cover by a band that's been active almost 30 years, think they've maintained "relevance" whatever that is worth
|
| |
To be clear. I said relevant/interesting. And it's measured on YouTube apparently...
|
| |
5 million views ain't nothing to sneeze at. That's more than Karnivool or Birds of Tokyo have ever gotten, so...
|
| |
And I just checked out the song, it kind of bangs tbh.

What have I done lol. One throw away comment and sput loses its mind. I wasn't dismissing the band's past success/es nor their apparent grip on select video streaming sites. I was merely speculative of their move into the future - one that would both be relatively grasped AND interesting.
Edit: although I should probably atone for the halfway hostile wording of the initial comment.
|
| |
Lmao what did you expect? This is a music/critique/argument website.
It's more likely that these guys don't have an album coming out this year, or the recording/release of an upcoming album has been delayed, so they just recorded the cover so that they had something to show for the year to remind people that they still exist. Dropping off the face of the earth with no tours or new music would be band-suicide at this point.
Some quick cash probably doesn't hurt either.
|
| |
Can agree with some quick covid monies
|
| |
they're on one of the most popular rock labels at the moment, their last few albums sold really well, they consistently chart high on the radio, and they were nominated for a Grammy just a few years back... but no, they're irrelevant. Sevendust who?
also Sitar their new album is fully recorded, mixed, mastered and will probably be announced within the next few weeks, so...
|
| |
Freakin sevendust haters
|
| |
My point when saying that was that 5 millions for them is pretty substantial. From what I could find their biggest video (which I think is "Praise") has about 7. So they're pretty much as relevant as they have always been if judging purely by the number of people listening.

lol what exactly do people find so offensive about this
