Kiwanuka Shares Stroke Update 2026-09-28 by John Marinakis CONTRIBUTOR | 0 Comments | Michael Kiwanuka has announced that his fifth studio album, FUDGE, will arrive on October 23 through Polydor, alongside an update on his recovery from a stroke.
In a statement shared on Instagram, the singer-songwriter said that bleeding in his brain, caused by high blood pressure, had left him with a severe brain injury requiring extensive rehabilitation. He explained that his health was behind his canceled performances and that he remains unsure when he will return to touring.
Kiwanuka thanked the NHS staff and other medical professionals involved in his care, along with his family and friends, and stressed that he is working toward recovery.
Completed before his illness, FUDGE was written largely alongside 2024's Small Changes. Kiwanuka handled production himself, with assistance from Dom Monks and string collaborator Rosie Danvers.
The twelve-track album is intended to convey optimism, playfulness and creative freedom.
