As good a musician as this guy is his music always strikes me as hyper-technical elevator music.

I think his production choices betray his talent. Absolutely adore his progressions and he might be one of the strongest songwriters in the game but anything that isn't expressly his guitar playing often comes off as a bit trite. Kinda insane how memorable many of his lead lines are given how fucked his playing can get.
