So... any chance of a Pantera reunion is now gone. All these older bands that keep refusing to get together for a few final shows need to start paying attention. This shit doesn't last forever.
|
| |
HUGE RIP
|
| |
--A pantera reunion without dime would be like a Megadeth show with out dave--
If they had got Zack Wilde (or however his name is spelled), I think it could have had some legitimacy.
|
| |
At that point can you honestly call it a reunion? That's only half the original band members.
|
| |
A reunion is definitely off the table now
|
| |
It's tough, I guess. The legitimacy part, for me, comes from there being a connection between the guy that is gone and the guy filling in. If Dave from Megadeth died and James Hetfield and Kirk Hammet played a few shows with the other Dave and whoever is playing drums that week... that could be a legit show.
|
| |
Wow, RIP. 54's too soon.
|
| |
I didn't like this dude, but hell, 54 is too young, damn...
Massive RIP
I'm glad though that any chance for a pantera reunion has officialy died...
|
| |
--Personally I wouldn't see that show if I had free tickets. But to each his own. --
True enough.
|
| |

There's prob something in Dave's will that says this is not okay under any circumstances haha
|
| |
But fr I think a Pantera reunion would just be "Down plays Pantera" at this point
|
| |
chill
|
| |
I'm heartbroken of Vinnie passing away, but looking at the bright side
NO MORE FUCKING HELLYEAH
|
| |
Lol damn rod coming in hard
Rip
|
| |
Hellyeah was a mess but I actually dig his post-Pantera works in Damageplan and Rebel Meets Rebel. Huge RIP
|
| |
Rip
|
| |
RIP
I think the worst thing about this for me is that there was never any reconciliation between Vinnie and Phil after Pantera broke up. Whatever you think of either guys, the fact that peace was never made between both camps just makes it even sadder.
|
| |
Blabbermouth has posted a ton of tweets from musicians, but nothing from Phil yet. I know he wanted to reconcile, so he's probably dealing with it personally and privately right now.
|
| |
Wtf
Although Hellyeah is gone...
|
| |
Truly a loss. Rest in peace, Vinnie.
|
| |
Vinnie jamming with his broski now
|
| |
Phil Anselmo is probably damned if he talks about it, damned if he doesn't. If he talks about it he'll get criticised for acting all pally with someone he had a rather public feud with for years, if he stays silent people will ask why. But as others said, this does act as a wakeup call that the chance to bury the hatchet won't last forever. You never know, this might push Andreas/Paulo and the Cavalera brothers to actually talk to each other about ending their beef - a reunion is off the cards for sure but they're around the same age as the Pantera dudes now and this news might be a wakeup call.
|
| |
Damn. Time to blast some Pantera.
|
| |
Sad news. RIP Vinnie
|
| |
bitch what the fuck
huge mega RIP
|
| |
Saw somebody above say "I didn't like him.... but massive RIP." So thoughtful.
|
| |
One of the biggest RIPs in a long time. Fuck
|
| |
Forced reunions are dumb anyway, RIP.
|
| |
RIP Big Vinnie...this fat fuckers drumming was actually pretty dope, and got overshadowed hard by his bros chops and Phils antics. I dont need an excuse to jam Patnera but here's one anyway
|
| |
Hellno this sucks
|
| |
Fuck, RIP hard, jamming Pantera before work today for sure
|
| |
Phil isn't very public anyway and doesn't really like social media it seems. He definitely doesn't trust the media. I don't think it has anything to do with him being afraid to say something. I think Phil is pretty private and since he's a really intense person we can pretty much guess he's not doing very well right now. I only hope he doesn't start using or go off the rails with alcohol.
|
| |
R.I.P. He was a great drummer.
I'm not sure but I think I read a few years ago about Phil wanting to reconcile and Vinnie pretty much said fuck that
|
| |

Skid Row, System of a Down come to mind.
Their cynicism, as depicted by their written and oral statements from time to time, simply won’t get them anywhere.
|
| |
RIP
His drumming was surprising technical when he was not doing heavy-as-shit breakdowns. He's certainly underrated.
|
| |
At least he’s at peace with his brother now.
Hard RIP, this really sucks :[
|
| |
Just heard the news from a friend of mine. R.I.P.
|
| |
R.I.P.
|
| |
"I'm not sure but I think I read a few years ago about Phil wanting to reconcile and Vinnie pretty much said fuck that"
Phil has said multiple times over the years that he wants to at least make peace with Vinnie, but Vinnie had always been dead-set against it.
|
| |
R.I.P. Vinnie.
|
| |
"Phil has said multiple times over the years that he wants to at least make peace with Vinnie, but Vinnie had always been dead-set against it.'
I don't know much about their issue. I know Phil had drug problems and was generally a dick but what did Phil do that made Vinnie never want to speak to him again?
|
| |
TMZ is usually pretty spot on tbh
|
| |
Sad news RIP Vinnie m/
|
| |
--I don't know much about their issue. I know Phil had drug problems and was generally a dick but what did Phil do that made Vinnie never want to speak to him again?--
Vinnie and Anselmo's relationship got more acrimonious when Vinnie indirectly blamed Philip for Dimebag's death, suggesting that some remarks the vocalist had made about Dimebag in print just weeks earlier might have incited Dimebag's killer.
|
| |
RIP
|
| |
If they were to frame it as reunion shows to raise money for some cause, I could see it working. If it turns out Vinnie died from drugs or some illness, they could just play shows to "raise awareness" for those issues, and play them in honor of Dime and Vinnie's memories. That's basically the only way I can see it working, though; they'd have to make the reunion not about the living members, but the passed ones.
|
| |
RIP
|
| |
Man, this sucks. RIP man, be reunited with your brother.
|
| |
I think the worst part is that his father is still alive. The fact he has to live knowing both of his sons died...
|
| |
Ya man that’s fucking rough.
|
| |
"Vinnie and Anselmo's relationship got more acrimonious when Vinnie indirectly blamed Philip for Dimebag's death, suggesting that some remarks the vocalist had made about Dimebag in print just weeks earlier might have incited Dimebag's killer."
Damn, I never knew that. Thank you for explaining it
|
| |
Why is everyone so surprised now? Vinnie got written off Family Guy years ago. All jokes aside, RIP.
|
| |
RIP hard as fuck
|
| |
I feel it's important to say I that nothing the guy was involved in was good
RIP
|
| |
I’m jamming Cemetery Gates non-stop after hearing about Vinnie’s untimely death, and the lyrics therein read like a prelude to the tragedies that would unfold from the ‘00s onward...
|
| |
RIP
Jammed this yesterday in Vinnie's honor: https://youtu.be/g9jQmvynpTQ
|

Holy shit, this is unexpected. I was still hoping him and Phil reconcile their differences but that hope is gone now. RIP Vinnie Paul, your legacy lives on.

Such a hard RIP
|
| |
He autographed a CD when they opened for Slayer back in 2015. Cool guy and local state hero. Huge RIP.
It's a shame he passed before he could've made amends with Phil, bc I think it would've happened eventually. Now those wounds will forever stay bleeding.
|
| |
Vinnie Paul on the Brick Wall
|
| |
So much stuff coming out about this guy's personality now. He was a great guy, apparently, and people aren't just saying it like a lot of times after somebody passes. There are plenty of examples, like Randy from Lamb of God said that Vinnie once had a huge BBQ planned for the bands out by the tour buses or whatever but was shut down by a Fire Marshall and he was extremely bummed out about it. And that is a common theme in this guy's life (and dime's as well it seems -- they cared a lot about helping others and making them have a good time)
|
| |
Most of people in this band seemed like pretty okay people except that nazi saluting skinhead. But also I would like to know what he actually said in print that could have spurred on the killer because context really matters here.
I was never really a big fan of Pantera but this guys drumming definitely always stood out, even in the shadow of the guitarwork.
Edit: I actually didn't know him and Dimebag were brothers. Damn. Those were some talented siblings.
|
| |
Calling Phil a skinhead is a stretch. He's more like a drunk, drugged up idiot.
|
| |
I mean why even bring that up now. I mean is this really time to be virtue signalling
|
| |
I met Vinnie a few times. He was always a douche. Still, RIP and gone too young
|
| |
Lmao. Also this guy drank everyday and was obese. Im glad he didnt have kids or a wife because his lifestyle, frankly, was selfish.
|
| |
Wow, what a bunch of pathetic people in here. Maybe you can't read or look into it yourself, but he was in no way selfish. He took care of literally everybody around him. Fuck off.
|
| |
"Lmao. Also this guy drank everyday and was obese. Im glad he didnt have kids or a wife because his lifestyle, frankly, was selfish. "
Probably written by a certified fat neet that has a shit taste in anime
|
| |
In fact this guy even wrote a letter to the judge when Randy Blythe was on trial or imprisoned talking about stage security and his brother's death and putting in a good word for Randy. Did he have to do that? No. Was he selfish? Would a selfish person do that?
