Wovenwar lose guitarist

2016-09-29 by Toondude | 11 Comments
California hard-rock/metalcore group Wovenwar have officially confirmed that they have parted ways with guitarist Phil Sgrosso. Phil was one of the main founders of the band and has committed to both their self-titled debut and their upcoming album Honor Is Dead, which is scheduled to be released on October 21st.

Phil issued a statement:

As some of you may have heard by now, I have decided to part ways with Wovenwar. Without getting into too many specifics, I have found myself more interested in pursuing other musical endeavors right now than devoting myself to the band.

Regarding the new album, I was fully involved with the writing and recording process just like any other album, as well as handling a larger portion of the producer duties and guitar engineering. I am proud to have this album as part of my discography and thankful to have had this time to push myself and explore new musical territory. I wish the band the best as they move on.

It doesn't sound like it was on bad terms so that's good.

bummer. I haven't really cared too much for Wovenwar's stuff, but Phil's been jamming with those dudes forever

Phil's great guitarist and one of the main songwriters both in AILD and Wovenwar so thats quite a big loss for the band.

He seemed like a nice dude, hope he'll find the band where he can show his talents more

I wonder if they wanted the heavier approach and he wants to do more melodic stuff, going off the first single only so idk anything yet just guessing

This is crazy in the context of how long these guys have been playing together. Wovenwar really has been a shadow of their former selves.

he was probably tired of getting jerked off in his sleep while on tour.

I think probably the opposite tbh. Wovenwar's been pretty soft stuff in comparison to everything Phil has done, he is still doing stuff like Poison Headache right now and he stated that he was more interested in other musical ventures as the reason he's leaving. bad for wovenwar.

Saw this, thought it was about Wovenhand for a minute.
Glad it wasn't about Wovenhand.
