Yes, yes, and hell yes m/

New Meshuggah song "Clockworks" is leaked on Youtube as well for those who want to know
| |
Fucking sick.
| |
Stoked is an understatement.
| |
I'm digging this song, very groovy and blends the old with the new.
| |
yea I definitely hear some chaosphere on this, so dope
| |
very solid
| |
Chaosphere vibes are real.
Great jam.
| |
dope song
| |
Pretty good.
| |
Some parts of it get me banging like an idiot, other parts of it are pretty 'meh'.
The intro and that final verse in particular are excellent though :]
| |
song seems coherent and well-executed, but nothing really grabs me ...
| |
stoked.
| |
I like it.
| |
"New Meshuggah song "Clockworks" is leaked on Youtube as well for those who want to know"
Link?
| |
riff at 1:25 is BRUTAL
| |
very true MO especially the middle section w/ the solo and the riff after it
| |
Heard the opening riff and started deadlifting my desk
| |
youtube link for the article
http://youtu.be/xtO3VCu5wv4
| |
Heard the opening riff and now will spend the rest of the day cleaning up the splinters that were my desk.
| |
Good track, I heard Nothing and Koloss in it.
| |
Heard the opening riff and took an extra violent gulp of my tea.
| |
this band rips off periphery way too much
| |
do no wrong
| |
vox too high in mix is my only complaint
| |
It's not a bad track but nothing really sticks out to me.
| |
Pretty sweet track of course.
| |
rips because of course it does
The part at like 1:26 with the bass and odd time signature sounds awesome.
| |
I like it.[2]
| |
Heard the opening riff and started deadlifting my desk [2]
| |
vocals sound kinda strained tho.
| |
Heck yeah, what a great way to start the day.
| |
this song is boring as shit
| |
maniac I'll fight you
| |
sounds good, man. We'll grab some belgian stouts afterwards
| |
I fuckin snapped at the :48 second mark. My room was clean before I pressed play. Now it looks like a bull ran through it.
| |
2:52 onwards is sick as fuck. Hyped as hell.
| |
You might want to get that checked out, Jeet.
| |
@Maniac! Yea you're probably right, but I think I'm gonna listen to this 20 more times before I do that.
| |
Not a fan of how loud the vocals are in the mix but other than that it's solid.
| |
DEI or DIE
| |
Felt the ending was leading into something bigger but it just ended, maybe the next song picks it up.
| |
Solo was lit, and the guitar tone kicks ass.
| |
I've never liked meshuggas solos, I know that's a crime because they are so "jazzy" or whatever but they always sound out of place to me.
| |
The solos on DEI rule
| |
I think they fit well with their mechanical sound but hey that's just me.
| |
Holy shit. This is a HUGE step up from anything on Koloss.
| |
I love how Jens sounds in this by the way.
| |
Recording this album live has evidently done them nothing but good.
| |
This is so good, I'm extremely hyped rn
| |
This is OK. DEI is still their best
| |
Why listen to meshuggah when I can listen to Vildhjarta
| |
Meshuggah always reminds me of Tetris tbh
| |
Why listen to only one when you can listen to both
| |
"Why listen to meshuggah when I can listen to Vildhjarta"
because Meshuggah did it first and way better
| |
porque no los dos
| |
"Why listen to meshuggah when I can listen to Vildhjarta"
that's like asking why listen to metallica when you can listen to trivium
| |
"Why listen to meshuggah when I can listen to Vildhjarta"
Didn't know who Vildjharta was, listened to "Dagger", can now give you a solid 10 reasons.
| |
i mean vildhjarta are good, but they are about as big a ripoff of meshuggah as any band ever was (and there are a lot). i don't think that's a bad thing, but making that statement you deserved to be kicked in the shin.
| |
theyre not as bad as periphery but
| |
Great track.
| |
gettin those shuggah juices flowin
| |
holy shit
| |
Good lord, this fucking destroys. What is it with metal bands putting out absolute god-tier stuff this year?
| |
"I've never liked meshuggas solos, I know that's a crime because they are so "jazzy" or whatever but they always sound out of place to me."
"I think they fit well with their mechanical sound but hey that's just me."
I agree Dungeon, they have that atonal quality that makes it sound much more machine-like, which is a good thing for this kind of music. Out of context, they are complete ass lol
Vildhjarta still rules though. They kinda sound like the angry teenager where Mushaggah is the bellowing dad.
| |
Vildhjarta's only disc was great and highly suggested to any Shuggah fan.
Song is ok, seems faster than most of their recent songs..Chaosphere-ish as many others said
| |
Vildhjarta is the kid in the car asking for McDonald's and Meshuggah is the dad saying “No son. We got food at home"
| |
lmao
| |
sounds awesome. i feel a meshuggah binge coming on
| |
Lets be real here though, Vildhjarta also has members of Uneven Structure and they are pretty damn good.
| |

Ah ah ah. I could kiss you Archelirion.
| |
i feel a meshuggah binge coming on [2]
| |
calling vildhjarta a meshuggah ripoff is not giving them nearly enough credit
meshuggah are the lords tho and no band approaches their Magnificence
| |
just checked some Vildhjarta and they seem a lot more "core"
| |
gotta re-jam meshuggah's discog by the time this comes out
| |
the very first riff of this song is straight up new millenium cyanide christ
fucking dope cheese
| |
I think the song is good, not great (by meshuggah standards), but pre-release songs often work better with the full album
| |
songs ok
| |
swag
| |
WE ALL RIP OFF MESHUGGAH
| |
all this vildhjarta hate, dont know bout you guys but their debut interested me more than anything ive heard by meshuggah
| |
I don't hate em, but I just prefer most stuff meshuggah has done
| |
it definitely goes without saying that i havent jammed a meshuggah record in agessss tho, i remember digging catch 33
| |
meshuggah songs only get better the more you listen to them tbh
| |
"Vildhjarta is the kid in the car asking for McDonald's and Meshuggah is the dad saying “No son. We got food at home""
Omg this is perfect
"the very first riff of this song is straight up new millenium cyanide christ"
That's actually my fav Meshuggah riff ever so that explains my sudden urge to lift my desk off the ground.
| |
vocals are too high in the mix, other than that song is pretty good
| |
vildhjarta rule don't get all teh hate
| |
They rule, but they are also a derivative of Meshuggah, hence the hate on a hipster site.
| |
vildhjarta rips wtf is going on here
| |
vjjhjvhjharta are only decent, relax
| |
ok assdpf420
| |
Meshuggah is the only band that sounds like Meshuggah I can tolerate. And this track rules.
| |
track rules yea
| |
DISCIPLES
| |
No slams here; I'm disappointed.
| |
wow that solo that groove. will be aoty
| |
solo reminds me of glints collide
| |
Is it just me or do his vocals sound a lot weaker here?
Song is alright, band just isn't for me. I can see why a fan would dig it.
| |
yea they sound weaker, almost Lamb of God level, but that's 25 years of quality vox for ya
| |
His vocals have been weak since Chaosphere tbh.
| |
nah he had many great moments since then, mainly in many tracks off of Catch and obZen
| |
I've found his vocals to be pretty monotonous in all their post-90s material but to each their own
| |
his vocals are fine imo
| |
his voice sounds pretty much exactly like this on koloss
| |
I mean yeah they're fine Asdfp but they're nothing amazing.
| |
yeah i do get it. but if the instrumentals can make up for his (not lacking, but ok) vocals then it'll be fine
| |
Meshuggah is meditation for those of us who are wicked(ly awesome).
| |
I truly understand the monotonous vox critique because it it accurate to a degree, and I can imagine with how demanding Chaosphere was and the self-evident deepening of his vocals that there is strain and wear since then. But, to me, it was all about the power Jens brought to the music; it's not like I expect him to hit notes when the music doesn't necessarily call for them. The man is(was) monstrous and assertive enough to add a notch to the technical hardcore assault on record and live settings.
| |
i was never ripping vildjharta by calling them a ripoff. i think they rule. but their sound is what it is because of meshuggah. they are heavily influenced . maybe thats a better way to put it.
| |
Intro sounds a lot like the trick they used on obZen, bit of a chaosphere sound too. I'm liking it so far
| |
I am hearing a lot of my solo record ''Kings and Thieves'' in this song. It's good to be honored. As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
| |
Shut the fuck up
| |
lol
| |
Agree with Chaosphere comparisons. Less of the thick synthetic tone on Koloss, which is nice, and to be honest even though the vocs sound imperfect and strained, at least they are raw and organic. Solo, intro and outro are fucking sick
| |
Slays. Poor jens has sounded better tho
| |
Omg these guys are coming to Toronto in October
| |
this hits as hard as Obzen, but stylistically its like a mix of koloss and chaosphere. honestly a good portion of it sounds like a straight up NMCC throwback, in a good way
song grew on me, i hope its one of the more straightforward/"""boring""" songs on the album though
| |
pretty unique riff
| |
Chugs like a mofo.
| |
I already like the album more than the past 2 just based off of this song. Rules so fucking hard.
| |
Wow another Periphery rip off wdyk
| |
periphery ripped textures off anyway
| |
Need to check Meshuggah's discog bad though, doubt there is an album below a 4.
| |
swag
| |
fuckin fuck yea. love the odd, unpredictable rhythm of the riffs.
| |
These guys have an enviable grasp on rhythm and timing, damn. Song's pretty sweet.
| |
holy shit this sounds like every other meshuggah song
shocked
| |
The most accessible meshuggah song I have heard in a long time
| |
This shit blows my mind times infinity, feels like all of the good parts from their other albums have been taken out and concentrated into this one track
| |
it's good yea
| |
The vocals could be lower in the mix but otherwise i really like the production. The guitars sound massive.
| |
"The most accessible meshuggah song I have heard in a long time"
Do Not Look Down, Bleed, and Combustion are more accessible imo
even though yeah, this is a straight-lined one.
| |
Chaospehere vibes? really? This wouldn't sound out of place on Nothing imo.
| |
pretty massive tune, digging it! and they're from my home town and all. :-)
| |
Ya I mean I can appreciate meshuggah, but vildhjarta is much more twisted, odd, and fun for me.
Could never get into meshuggah really. Maybe I'm too young? 22, how old are you meshuggah fans?
| |
31 dude. Was jamming Chaosphere in highschool.
| |
Sounds like more of the same. Maybe I should listen to it again because it didn't do much for me
| |
Try turning up your speakers.
| |
"Could never get into meshuggah really. Maybe I'm too young? 22, how old are you meshuggah fans?"
I don't think it has something to do with age. It's probably more, like, the way you're approaching them. Meshuggah don't really try to be as "twisted" or "fun" as possible ... their music has always been more like a force of nature. Like, they don't even sound like humans, it sounds like some death star or a black hole.
| |
Listened to it again and I liked it a lot more this time without reading the lyrics. My puny human brain couldn't handle the reading and the riffing at the same time.
| |
how can you you handle typing your username
| |
I only had to do it once. I was in the hospital for days.
| |
lol
| |
Something about lyric videos are incredibly distracting to me. I enjoy reading along on an insert or sleeve, but the way they pop up with the music in a youtube video is just not for me.
| |
really digging this rawer approach, looks like its going to be yet another solid album
| |
feels like they're writing what they think i want to hear instead of what i know they're really capable of
| |
"how can you you handle typing your username"
Dude your username is ass too
| |
Wow bloc everywhere i go today, ur the last person that commented. Lmao. Must be a good sign. That means this song is metal as fuk and im gonna like it. Gonna losten now
| |
Correct on all accounts
| |
yes losten now
| |
| |
thanks for your contribution
| |
"Could never get into meshuggah really. Maybe I'm too young? 22, how old are you meshuggah fans?"
I'm only 23 and most of my friends who enjoy them are 18 to my age range. Age has no factor in really enjoying most music unless it's directly marketed to a certain age group.
| |
even then, nothing really prevents anyone from enjoying anything, it's gotta be some really hard marketing to make something really only worth for a certain age group
| |
New Meshuggah sounds like Meshuggah. Nothing more, nothing less. I'm pretty stoked for the new album.
| |
"Could never get into meshuggah really. Maybe I'm too young? 22, how old are you meshuggah fans?"
Honestly, it's not even an age thing. Meshuggah's music is just so unbelievably unique in execution that some people can't get into them. To me, this band is like... machine-like or almost alien in sound; not really human at all. They have a very unique sound to them, and that's why I dig them - not to mention some of their compositions are stupidly complex.
| |
One of my favourite bands, but always seem to take a while to get into new material. Good track, sure Ill love it when it's in the context on the album.
| |
Artwork is awesome as well
| |
"Maybe I'm too young? 22, how old are you meshuggah fans?"
I'm 21 and have been jamming Meshuggah since I was like 15.
| |
25 m8, still chugging dicks
| |
Hoolly shit. Meshuggah is like a NASA atomic clock, it just keeps ticking within a standard of perfection.
| |
stocked af

To me, this band is like... machine-like or almost alien in sound; not really human at all. They have a very unique sound to them, and that's why I dig them - not to mention some of their compositions are stupidly complex.
And that's precisely why I DON'T dig them. Not saying they're bad - just not my thing.
| |
then leave sput. u have to like the hype bands here or u aren't cool
| |
