from the snippets i've heard of the old XFM show, Ricky (and Stephen Merchant) always struck me as a guy with solid tastes in classic rock/folk, so it doesn't surprise me he can pen a good tune like this. what does surprise me is that he didn't go the "haha, he's a shit singer and guitar player" route like the trailer for the movie implies.
