sounds like the devil and god
|
| |
Phenomenal song.
|
| |
This is absolutely fantastic. Blood in the Sand was great, but this is on another level.
|
| |
Great song!
|
| |
I'm not 100% sold on the chorus, but overall, still a really good track.
|
| |
I, uh, kind of think this sucks a bit- which is kind of depressing. I don't really like the production. The last 45seconds or so (minus the very last part) is pretty good-sounding though.
|
| |
Love the production tbh, song is way better than the first one
|
| |
I am a big fan of this. I do get some devil and god vibes but this is great. I agree I am a bit iffy on the chorus.
|
| |
I did hear it through some pretty shit headphones, but for some reason that one section sounded way better than the rest. I do like the bass tone, but it almost felt like a distraction to everything else.
|
| |
The vocals don't suit me
|
| |
Two songs come to my mind by listening to this : Brand New - At The Bottom & Nickelback - Too Bad (haha)
|
| |
I like this a lot.
|
| |
"Lyrically, the song spawned from an image that popped into my head: someone continually swatting at a swarm of bees to get their honey, but somehow not understanding why they would sting back in return."
oh boy
|
| |
He only said that about the lyrical theme so nobody would realise the song is about Beyoncé.
|
| |
Songs rules obviously.
|
| |
Song is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good. Calling it now, AOTY.
|
| |
Reminds me a lot of At the Bottom by Brand New
|
| |
Wasn't he also writing this song and thinking about foreign policy? How America likes to stick it's hand in everything and it comes back to sting us, but America feels entitled?
The song is great. I only thought the opening verse sounded like Devil and God, but then I sung At The Bottom's chorus to the tune of this song and it does sound similar.
Still great either way. Chorus does sound better produced than the rest of the song. But it's a good jam with good lyrics.
|
| |
This gets better with each listen
|
| |
didnt like it at first. same with the last song. but later on they start to get stuck in my head, which means they're good right? idk i dont want to listen to them again till it leaks
|
| |
I've only heard their first two, but their vocalist sounds like a completely different person here. Good song
|
| |
like dave grohl fronted brand new during daisy
|
| |
Dustin ages like fine wine
|
| |
take me dustin
|
| |
Great stuff here.
|
| |
@somethingnotsoclever "Wasn't he also writing this song and thinking about foreign policy? How America likes to stick it's hand in everything and it comes back to sting us, but America feels entitled?"
That was my first thought. It has some very obvious parallels to American foreign policy.
Like,
Black Honey = Oil
Swarm of Bees = Middle East
"See them comin' after me
And they're followin me across the sea
And now they're stinging my friends and my family" - Terrorism resulting from US interference, changing regimes, et cetera.
"But I'll do what I want
I'll do what I please
I'll do it again 'til I've got what I need" - American interests come before human lives.
But more importantly, song rules.
|
| |
@Malcontent cool/interesting theme for a good song
|
| |
Lol
|
| |
I wouldn't be surprised if that theory was true
|
| |
I'm sure it is. That makes 2/2 political songs.
|
| |
i love how both of these songs are so simple instrumentally
|
| |
Wasn't a fan of the first single but this is great.
|
| |
"You were a song I couldn't sing
Caught like a bear by the bees
With its hand in a hive
Who complains of the sting"
seems like Dustin has been listening to mewithoutYou's Nice and blue pt. 2. Thrice have never done anything for me really, would rather listen to mwY any day
|
| |
Don't understand the hype behind this song. It was kind of tedious to listen to.
|
| |
Great song.
|
| |
I actually like this song, touche Thrice.
|
| |
Two songs come to my mind by listening to this : Brand New - At The Bottom & Nickelback - Too Bad (haha) [2] I don't even know that Nickelback song but my god does this sound like brand new mixed with nickelback
|
| |
it's pretty simple and not blowing me away, but it's pretty good. 3.5 or 4, hopefully the rest of the album is this good or so, should be a worthy comeback
|
| |
brand new + nickelback is fitting
lol that's bad
|
| |
Have they always been this formulaic?
|
| |
I think sputnik hyped me up a little too much because this is pretty standard alt rock fare.
|
| |
I found this a lot better than the previous one.
|
| |
Cool, I dig this. Lyrics are nice too.
|
| |
Lyrics blow.
|
| |
Hopefully the other songs are more complex than this one and the first single...
|
| |
I forgot how cool it was to hate Thrice here.
Much better than Blood in the Sand. Hope the album is more this song's calibre than the other one.
|
| |
p good
|
| |
dat bass line
|
| |
Goddamn that's good. Brings the groove...
|
| |
this sounds so much like at the bottom.
and i love at the bottom.
so i really like this.
not as much as at the bottom tho.
|
| |
'I forgot how cool it was to hate Thrice here.'
Wut? Have you seen their averages?
|
| |
Formulaic? Do we not listen to Thrice at all...? Major/Minor was pretty cut and dry. This really is no different than that. Beggars for the most part was formulaic. The last time they weren't was Vheissu IMO. Maybe parts of the Alchemy Index.
Lyrics are good. Don't know why people would complain about them. They may not stand up to M/M lyrics, but they're good nonetheless. It's following a pretty straightforward theme, so they may not be as thought provoking as previous releases.
|
| |
This is great. Didn't like Blood on the sand at all tho
|
| |
Please explain how they are bad, Snox. I'm on pins and needles expecting another stupid explanation from you.
|
| |
I loooooooooooooooooooooooove it quite a bit, tbqh.
|
| |
