I heard that this was a Hurley outtake, so it was written before EWBAITE, which means there's still hope for weezer...

I liked the material off of EWBAITE much better than this--a little disappointed honestly.

Yeah, which means they wrote EWBAITE after they wrote this, which means this was just an outtake that they released. This doesn't show signs of a change in sound. They just released something they made beforehand. Their newest release will probably sound more like EWBAITE which will be awesome because Hurley was awful and EWBAITE was great.
