Hell yeah.
| |
damn still haven't jammed Roads. I'm falling behind
| |
Roads was a good culmination of every style he's done so far (sans crust punk).
| |
good timing for an autumn themed album.
| |
Just finished listening to it, and it outdoes Roads to the North.
The songwriting is superb.
| |
that's good to hear.
| |
good to hear
| |
hmmm quite
| |
hahahah well great minds think alike
| |
If I could compare this album to anything, it'd probably be Nokturnal Mortum's last album. It's got soaring melodies throughout the album, and there there are moments like the ending of Into the North Woods that are ridiculously epic with mellotrons and tubular bells. I've liked everything this guy has done, but this is the only album that's really blown me away.
| |
damn man, panopticon haven't sounded this fired up in years
| |
I like it, but will need a little bit of time to sink in.
| |
So psyched to jam.
| |
autumn eternal is such a sweet song
| |
K, well, this is fucking amazing.
| |
how many banjos in this one
| |
none
| |
Ok I gotta jam this.
| |
You're going to love it.
| |
it's pretty good
| |
damn austin can sing too, what the fuck?
| |
if anyone bothers to buy it off bandcamp but it here, it's the band's official one
https://thetruepanopticon.bandcamp.com/album/autumn-eternal
| |
also probably not his vocals if it's cleans, he has a guest singer (Austin doesn't have a bad voice though)
| |
excited to jam this
| |
It's really damn good.
| |
i thought that was possible, but usually guest vocals are listed on the bandcamp page and i didn't see any so i figured it was austin
edit: jk they are listed on the official bandcamp page that you linked. not austin
double edit: wtf the track listing is different between these two sites
| |
Production has been improved a lot, I'll probably like this record a lot more than the previous one...
| |
Easily a metal AOTY contender.
| |
It's nice. Not sure it's better than his last one, but it's def not worse.
| |
You guys need to check out Heart of Akamon by Nechochwen. They are on Bindrune and they are doing a project with Austin next year. Killer band if you like blackened folk with Native American elements.
Will listen to this later, Panopticon rules.

Collapse's production bothered me, but I did find it off the internet so it might've been a bad rip. In any case I've only heard bits and pieces from this band and it all sounded like pretty solid genre-bending black metal, but this sounds like it could be their best yet. It also fits with what I want to listen to this time of year, sounds great so far.
| |
this guy is amazing. year after year he churns out great shit.
| |

Yeah there's a story to that actually... some of the earlier rips of it appearing on blogs were actually ripped from his myspace page, but the myspace tracks were actually like the unmastered mixes so they didn't sound nearly as good. He made a facebook post a few years ago laughing at us for listening to a crappy pirated rip. And then (I'm pretty sure this happened and I'm not imagining) when I made a snarky "oh yeah well show us what the real mix is like" comment, dude sent me a dl link to the legit version.
tl;dr you probably have the crappy unfinished mix people ripped from his myspace loooool
| |
that's amazing lol
| |
Holy shit this album rules so hard
| |
Interesting how he's adding Celtic symbols to his logo/album cover
| |
This kicks Roads' ass, just saying.
| |
hahaha that's awesome. I might go back and listen to his earlier stuff more carefully, but for now I'm gonna jam this as it's definitely among the best atmospheric bm I've heard this year.
| |
Hell yes
| |
I gotta jam this in full, listened to 2 songs earlier and they slayed.
| |
This rules so hard Hawks. I probably like it better than anything else he's ever done
| |
this is fucking great. was really meaning to get into his previous release but yeah. bought the album after one full listen. definitely gonna keep it going throughout the season
| |
3 songs through and holy hell. I may be a sucker for this kind of black metal but this is fucking great regardless.
| |
will check
| |
Listening again and wow..
| |
that band name
| |
Am I the only one who really likes saying this band name? Never even listened to them though lol
| |
yh they're just bringing the philosophy hard
| |
gonna check this harder than a sunday morning stubbie yea
| |
so excited to jam this holy shit
| |
Jam it, it rules hard.
| |
ok for real how fucking good is this cuz it's str8 ecstasy for me rn
| |
he did a great job on it. i enjoyed it much more than i thought i might. the album cover is my kind of shit too.
| |
mm after the first spin I'd say that Roads felt more unique than this
| |
it's pretty good but not better than his first two
| |
"mm after the first spin I'd say that Roads felt more unique than this"
I'd agree, but the last two records had the tendency towards awkward songwriting on the songs with the most bluegrass influence. This album definitely exchanges experimentation for a greater emphasis on cohesion, and it resulted in an incredible album (for me anyways).
| |
yeah no awkward bluegrass parts pretty much automatically made this better for me
| |
Still well below par compared to his first two gems.
| |
Never thought his first two were anything special. Solid but kinda generic. His music got more and more unique/interesting (thought not necessarily better) over time. Thought Roads summed up his musical journey quite nicely. Looking forward to this.
| |
This is a little better than Roads for me, though it's still not really anything too special. He's going in the right direction though.
| |
Roads is a little more convincing overall. Still solid though.
| |
I like this a lot. Listened 3 times already, great record.
