So they decide to "grow up" and then go back because they have no spine and don't want to alienate their stupid fanbase?

That's Yellowcard for ya.

If they're fans thought Lights and Sounds was too much of a progress for the band i'm slightly frightened to see the outcome of this album.

That's every band in the scene for ya.

Ocean Avenue >>> Lights And Sound
By far.

Ocean Avenue >>> Lights And Sound
LOL. Looks like we found someone who was alienated. Sorry, but Lights and Sounds destroyed anything else they've done by a long shot. It was actually an album with excellent songwriting, and enough variety to make it work, and actually had some substance. Look at Two Weeks from Twenty.

Intransit is right.
I don't think the new album will surpass Lights and Sounds, but given how I realy liked Light Up The Sky I still have hope for a great album.

I liked almost everything on Ocean Avenue, but it all got old quick. For me, when music gets old, I'll usually pick it back up a month or two later and listen to it just as rabidlly as before. Not Ocean Avenue. Sucks now. Lights and Sounds kicks ass, but I havn't heard ALL of it yet. Gonna soon though.
Am looking forward to the next album.

I was a little unfair. Lights and Sound was a great album, but I just love Ocean Avenue.
Two Weeks From Twenty is my favorite Yellowcard song, but View From Heaven is a very, very close second.
L&S definitely didn't alienate me, I just wouldn't mind if the new album sounded like Ocean Avenue.
But yeah. I'm just an idiot. After all, I like poppy music.

I can't help but feel sorry for the violin player when i'm watching a live performance, while the band is rocking out he is jumping around on stage, i mean sometimes i like to think that he's only in the band because he was their friend and then they let him in so he wouldn't be left out
|
| |
It might have started that way, but he does get some chances to shine. Plus, the band owes him some credit; the violin makes the band stand out of the pack.

I can hear the difference in the albums but when they are playing live, you can barely him and i feel bad for the guy.
|
| |
Thats a pretty lame reason for changing their musical direction.
|
| |
hmm, i bought Ocean Avenue but when Light & sounds came out i just kinda stopped liking the band that much for some reason.
maybe "matured" musically haha.
|
| |
This band aren't exactly great anyway.

sorry "growing up" means making music which is either more ambient (good) or more boring (bad). Yellowcard were already terrible, so im betting they went the second way but i haven't heard enough to jugde so won't make a judgement yet.

I think they are just saying that so their record company wont drop them. =)
