Mauno Meesit releases debut LP 2015-05-02 by Metalstyles | 2 Comments | Estonian-born singer-songwriter and the man behind the dreampop band Sinine, Mauno Meesit, released his debut LP Closer a few days ago, on 27th of April. His first record under his own name, the acoustic Closer was recorded in Berlin, with most of its songs written in 2013-2014, and sees the light of day through Meesit's own label, Grainy Records.
The press release reads as follows: "Berlin based singer, songwriter and producer Mauno Meesit, also known for his electronic music moniker "Sinine", released his new album ‘Closer’ this Monday, 27th of April on his own label Grainy Records.
Meesit is expressing himself through heartfelt songs and minimalist arrangements.Fascinated by little imperfections and dusty sounds, he recorded vocals with a 1940’s American microphone, tracked guitars with a 100-years-old Austrian parlor guitar and added slight touches of untuned piano and electronic sounds in different Berlin living rooms.
Though this will be the first album under his own name, Mauno Meesit has previously released two records on German Accession Records under his electronic music moniker "Sinine". He has written music for several theatre plays and TV series, has been awarded and nominated at the Estonian Music awards and has featured on electronic pop and alternative charts since 2009.
“I recorded the songs so closely and silently that the listener can almost feel as if I am singing the songs right next to him/her. That is why the upcoming album will be named Closer.”
With the new material, Meesit has taken a new course in an acoustic, intimate and minimalist direction. "Closer" is available on the vinyl, CD and digital format via Grainy Records."
