This was pretty boring outside the first couple tracks. MK Ultra is probably the heaviest song they've written since their
debut.
Hopefully Omega at least somewhat makes up for it but I feel like the Djent sound is starting to run dry for these guys.
| |
this is fucking terrible good god
| |
It's pretty overblown but no worse than the others, I'm feeling a 3-3.5 range right now
| |
seriously that high? You opinion is your opinion I guess
Personally I can barely stomach this thing. either gonna be a 2 or 2.5
| |
OH BOY I AM SO EXCITED. I AM ACTUALLY LEGITIMATELY GIDDY THINKING ABOUT LISTENING TO THIS.
| |
sooo tight
| |
it's alright, vocals don't really bother me as much as the next guy
| |
Those lyrics are so bad. I normally don't like to talk shit on lyrics but this like he was high and wrote shit about "duality" and stuff.
| |
I feel like Omega is going to be heavier
| |
MK is fucking sick tho, even the skronky bits that are more prevalent than ever.
I do not agree with the hate about Spencer at all. He is a killer singer but just needs proper songs to sing. Heavy Heart makes him sound great, imo his voice is suited to the more catchier stuff where he can write catchy vocal lines or the heavy as balls stuff where he screams his ass off. The weird stuff that Misha likes to white doesn't go well with vocals at all.
| |
I have always liked Spencer a lot, that hasn't changed. But the rest... Not feeling it. It's like they forgot how to guitar.
| |
Heavy Heart and Rainbow Gravity are really the only songs that I thoroughly enjoy.
| |
psychosphere and mk ultra are my current favorites on this
| |
They seem to be trying to be making an effort to write songs here which beats some of the wanky garbage off P2.
I like the weird swing riffs from Four Lights.
| |
Ugh this is bad
| |
The vocals are atrocious, but there are some great guitar melodies up through Heavy Heart.
I wish they'd ditch Spencer.
| |
Holy fuck, this is some good moments but there's no passion or substance to the music. And were the vocals always this ugly?
Like jeez he's abysmal aside from ok harsh vox.
| |
Do not comprehend the hype.
| |
Songwriting as a whole seems a lot more cohesive but there's nothing here as rousing as Ragnarok or Luck as a Constant.
| |
god damn this is fucking awful, the whiny vocals and middle school poetry lyrics and boring shit riffs, what in the fuck. and metal injection and metal sucks have this rated super high, god damn am i listening to the same album? it reminds me of linkin park mostly
| |
Lyrics are pretty lol at many points too. His voice isn't terrible when he's belting out higher notes but he's so fucking whiny.
| |
Band went downhill quick. This is no more than a solid 3 at best. Such a shame.
| |
It's alright. Spencer's vocals are absolutely cringe-worthy, though.
| |
VOCALS are terrible unless you like bands that feature similar terrible sounding vocals.
| |
Guys guys guys
There's a new Modest Mouse song. Let's listen to that.
| |
New modest mouse song is cool.
I love how some folks bitch too much cuz periphery released a new album
| |
Most of the non singles are actually decent. Spencers cleans suck for the most part, with some occasional decent sections. Not much to complain about musically though.
| |
this is going to be sweet live
| |
Spencer vocals are ok, like it or not the guy has a great range.
The biggest complain with both alpha and omega is that they are abusing of the metalcore and nu metal elements
| |
Spencer can sing. Really well. But it just doesn't mix well with periphery instrumentaly.
| |
ugh
| |
I'm big on shitty vox so I have no problems with Lil Spenny. Both albums rule I prefer omega
| |
Four Lights.
| |
Both albums rule I prefer omega
Agree, the 2 songs of omega rules hard, despite of some minor issues with the bad thing
| |
Hell below is so fucking heavy way heavier then anything they've done before. It makes meshuggah look like asking alexandria
| |
i wouldnt go that far but it is their heaviest song since the walk/zyglrox for sure
| |
enter shikari pales in comparison yet they nab a 3.7
| |
If I heard this on the r-r-radio I would probably turn that r-r-radio off
unless it was phychosphere.. that song is cool
| |
The only songs I like by this band are Icarus Lives and Jetpacks Was Yes. I really like Spencer's
clean singing. Didn't like what I've heard from this at all
| |
weird this album is the best album i have ever heard i think
| |
Let's see how this plays live...
| |
The live presentation of periphery are solid
| |
Both albums leaked and Omega is definitely better, but really neither album has any flow to it whatsoever. Feels like a bunch of singles, no real overall idea. Which is, you know, bad for a concept album.
| |
The naysayers are naysaying.
Give it a go. It's still Periphery, after all.
MK Ultra and Psychosphere ripped me in half in the best of ways.
| |
pre-listen prediction: it's shite
will post again when I make a proper judgement
| |
wheres kill? his review of periphery 2: it's still shit was the only one i trusted
| |
probably jamming budgie
| |
Album is pretty good, and MK Ultra is a fucking jam. Don't really get all the hate this band gets, maybe they deserved it with that awful EP "Clear", but this is pretty solid, tbh.
| |
I think this band gets a little too much hate on this site.
I'm actually quite enjoying this.
| |
yea they get a lot more hate than warranted compared to loads of other artists on this site
| |
This was boring as shit but at least not as boring as Periphery II. I literally fell the fuck asleep listening to PII
| |
last riff of Psychosphere is sick
| |
These guys need to learn how to compose real music, not just cool musicianship and fun parts to play.
| |
This is the best album Periphery has done to date. 3.8+ territory.
| |
Spencer needs to stop over-singing. He isn't a terrible singer, but he WAY overdoes it in some songs.
| |
This band gets the appropriate amount of hate.
| |
i dont think they get enough hate, go check out Elliot Coleman's facebook and see what happens when you speak badly of them. I mean this in the nicest way possible; please complain quietly, everybody is tired of reading comments that focus solely on the vocals. You've had three albums to get used to him. He's not going anywhere."
Apparently if I take three bites of a shit sandwich im supposed to get used to it and not complain
| |
Atomic drop a review on Omega
| |
It's still just as tame as anything else they've pushed out since their debut. I'm not asking for heaviness, just none of this mainstream-polish that's drenched over each track. Solid 3 if I'm being charitable.
| |
"Apparently if I take three bites of a shit sandwich im supposed to get used to it and not complain"
Normal people stop biting into the shit sandwich after one bite. Maybe that's your problem.
| |
Needs less vocals.
| |
@SitarHero That is the best possible rebuttal to that statement hahaha... perfectly encapsulates the pointlessness of hating a band you don't like.
| |
Songs, guitarwork and ideas are really not bad at all and enjoyable to listen. But you are all right. Spencers vocals are just unnecessary. They dont really fit with the partialy crazy guitarriffs respectively the songwriting isnt made for a clean singer.
Also spencers singing and vocal-production feels more like a linkin park or bullet for my valentine nu-metal-pop song.
| |
Album is superbad
| |
@Koffing - Haven't heard Omega yet, but I'll prob. review both.
| |
This sucks elephant cock. Spencer needs a muzzle. This guy really fucks up songs.
| |
righteous would love a posi staff review on these
| |
