Taravana streams new EP

2014-12-04 by Alex Newton | 6 Comments
Progressive metal project Taravana is streaming his new EP A Visible Chill via Bandcamp and YouTube. The album marks a notable change in sound for the band, as piano-driven Gothic rock gives way to an instrumental approach combining elements of power metal and atmospheric black metal.

Taravana is the solo project of multi-instrumentalist Alex Newton (user pedro70512). His self-titled debut was released independently last year. All of Taravana's music is available for free download at: www.taravanamusic.bandcamp.com

A Visible Chill is a concept album based around the Greyman legend of Scotland's Cairngorm mountains. It is composed of six movements that run seamlessly together, including folk and choral sections between heavier climaxes. The album as a whole takes inspiration from bands including Moonsorrow, Ulver and Paysage D'hiver.

Thanks Game. Yeah, I honestly don't even know the proper description but that gets the general idea. At least there are some comparables this time haha. Also, Sputmod added the "his" here. I feel weird writing third-person about myself.

Greyman sounds great dude, very smooth flow. Didn't feel as long as it was which is probably a good sign

I've listened to this album on repeat all day. Probably around 10 times all the way through. It's great.

Uisge Dhè is the standout track, but it's all high quality.

@Captain, tracks 2, 4, and 6 are like Greyman, while the rest vary. Yeah, I spent a lot of time on the mixing after bad production marred my last one.

@Krieg, that kinda makes my day. Week. Month. However long I've spent on this.

I had to take them down. Working with a publicist now so it's on his schedule for promotion and release over the next six weeks.
