2014-04-04 by paradox1216 | 24 Comments
Progressive instru-metal band Polyphia has started a crowdfunding campaign for their currently untitled debut album, to be released in August 2014 on a variety of formats (CD, vinyl, digital). The band is asking for $16,000 to enter the studio with producer Nick Sampson (guitarist of the band I Am Abomination), and as of this writing has raised over $6,000 of it. The campaign will run until May 7th.

Their music actually sounds like rich parents buying their kids expensive music equipment and giving them money for texas music festival pre-sales. Fake and gayxinfinity

That preview was excellent. Inspire was a fairly solid EP, so I have high hopes for this one.

I don't get the hate. These guys are fucking wizards on 6 strings. I don't see how you could possibly dislike them as a musician or guitarist.

At least have the awareness to admit that they're talented even if you don't care for instrumental shred in general.

^ natural minor runs with major chords underneath it repeated for 30 songs. Their "euphoric" sections are gay as roses

I understand the hate tbh. They really do the same thing in a lot of songs, but there really isn't much to do in the djentz.

They are kind of fun to listen for a few songs though, but this won´t do much to change things.

as far as recent instrumental metal/rock bands go, these guys rank up there for me

Soul Cycle
Polyphia
Pomegranate Tiger
Animals as Leaders
Scale the Summit
Intervals (well old Intervals)

Listen to their most recent EP Inspire , and the band's most recent single (linked here in the post). Easily their best output by far.

They aren't the most memorable band, but if this new single is any indication that might be about to change. They're taking on a sound that's more like Plini and Sithu Aye and those guys are super memorable

Don't see how they're called djent when they hardly blast on the low E string at all.

Just cause a band uses 7-8 strings doesn't immediately make them djent.

On the note of rich parents funding their music - it's better that they make "generic" progressive wank music than become another shitty metalcore band, which is what most of their local contemporaries are doing.
