Vallenfyre stream new song

English old school death metal band Vallenfyre are streaming a new track exclusively at Terrorizer.

The song's titled "Scabs" and it comes to introduce the band's upcoming album Splinters, which is due on May 12 through Century Media Records. Sound production duties were undertaken by Kurt Ballou (Converge).

Band main-man Greg Mackintosh (of Paradise Lost fame) had the following to say about the new album:

Vallenfyre was something I felt utterly compelled to do. It was almost like I didn’t have a choice. I was told by a bereavement counselor that I should write down and vocalize my feelings. I did just that and then everything just seemed to take a natural course.

We were very pleased with our debut album as a dirty mix of all our earliest death, doom and crust influences. On the follow-up, we want to take this much further and develop our own niche. It will be a stench-ridden, grim, face-melter that will separate the men from the boys.

Really really glad to see Kurt Ballou doing more production work for bands outside punk/hardcore. Metal bands outside the extreme metal spectrum could use him (or similar producers) as well...

Song's solid.

Sounds extra crusty. Kurt is a monster of a producer.

I'm really hoping this makes a difference. A Fragile King made me zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I liked A Fragile King quite a bit actually, but I think beefier production will definitely help it out.
