I really, really love this. I wasn't a huge fan of Sound Awake but this is fantastic.
Also fuck this fucking pop up ad. So fucking intrusive and hard to get rid of
|
| |
bit boring but not bad
|
| |
The video is pretty cool I guess. The song is miles beyond it though, so good oh my fuck.
|
| |
that was a rather nice sounding tune imo. two thumbs up!
|
| |
Karnivool. Wut r u doing. Karnivool! STAHP.
Little tease that almost goes somewhere 2/3 times in the song, but just doesn't. Dull. Getting quite
worried about the album after hearing this and the awkwardly terrible The Refusal.
|
| |
othr song was better
video is like that movie melancholia but lame
|
| |
It's really great. That bass + china combo..
|
| |
Karnivool. Wut r u doing. Karnivool! STAHP.
shut the fuck up
|
| |
shut the fuck up [2]
|
| |
When you feel free to headbutt a high speed train Kill. xo
|
| |
dont make me beat ur tesseract lovin ass
|
| |
Altered State is disappointing, dude. Rather have myself some Sound Awake/Themata. This song don't touch dat stuff.
|
| |
wait ppl dont like the refusal? that song is dope wtf
|
| |
Doing Australia proud!
|
| |
Waaaaay better than the Refusal. Holy fuck.
|
| |
Much MUCH better than The Refusal.
|
| |
i liked the refusal hecka more i dunno. actually had some fucking BALLS which is sorely lacking in most karnivool songs. production was pretty punk rock too. get your hands off ya cocks
|
| |
Yeah this song beats the shit out of The Refusal. Thought they ended the song well considering it sounded fairly awkward live. Song lacks riffage, but it is the single so I am not too worried (take All I Know as an example, not too much riffage there). Pre-ordered the album and DVD!
|
| |
Also, stoked Sky Machine is on the album, apparently song is epic.
|
| |
MAAAAD.
Looking forward to seeing them in Brivegas!
|
| |
I think Karnivool may have pulled a Megadeth. Release a shitty song first, lower everyone's expectations and THEN release the good song. In Megadeth's case it was still a mediocre song, but it sounded decent. Karnivool may have tricked us into thinking a decent song is really good.
|
| |
but The Refusal wasn't shitty
|
| |
this song is great
|
| |
Got high hopes for this album, though not sure if I'll enjoy it quite as much as I enjoy Sound Awake. I've no doubt it'll be better than Themata though.
|
| |
The Refusal sounded pretty bad to me. I was terribly put off by it.
|
| |
Yeah i wasn't too fond of The Refusal, but this is much better. Maybe The Refusal will sound a bit better as part of the album like Set Fire to the Hive did on Sound Awake.
|
| |
Themata > Sound Awake for me, interested to see where this will fit in. Pre-ordered.
|
| |
set fire to the hive is the best song on that album and scarabs is the best song on themata lol CONTROVERSIAL FUCKIN KARNIVOOL OPINIONS WHOAW
|
| |
omg
|
| |
Ah, shit. This is really boring and the video is predictable as hell.
|
| |
"Karnivool. Wut r u doing. Karnivool! STAHP."
pretty much this x1000
|
| |
tbh karnivool suck shit but got a soft spot for their particular brand of faux pop prog plus gotta rep ausmusic
|
| |
cool
|
| |
thx
|
| |
Don't strain yourself Base, I'm sure there are more important things for you to try and fail to figure out. Oh wait, nevermind. Carry on.
|
| |
Puzzles, I thought you were a fan of the band. Or were you a fan of their earlier stuff?
|
| |
Yeah I'm a huge fan of the band - Sound Awake is tied with OK Computer as my favourite album of all time, but I know a boring track when I hear one. "Favourite band" or not, this is a really boring track and I'm anticipating the new album with trepidation
|
| |
very excited for this album.
|
| |
So much love for Ian Kenny.
Most underrated and under-appreciated Australian musician ever.
|
| |
Im I the only person who thinks the synths in the song sound like Boards of Canada?
Can't wait, fucking pumped for this!
Song sounds mint!
|
| |
This really isn't that boring. Plus Ian Kenny croons - what more could you ask?
|
| |
Also, dat cover art!
|
| |
Yeah that was really average, as was The Refusal. Think this is gonna be a big disappointment which is a shame given that they were one of my favourite bands a few years back (saw them four times on the Sound Awake tour).
|
| |
Also that was the stupidest video I've ever seen.
|
| |
I thought the refusal was a B-side...awkward
|
| |
shut the fuck up [3]
"had some fucking BALLS which is sorely lacking in most karnivool songs."
shut the fuck up [4]
"I could compare Karnivool fans with those hilarious American teenagers who say Fight Club is the greatest movie of all time because they haven't seen enough European and Japanese movies."
shut the fuck up [5]
Am I doing this right?
|
| |
"Am I doing this right?"
You're doing the Lord's work my son!
|
| |
In which I make a fool out of myself, yada yada.
|
| |
Decent
|
| |
Great video, beats the shit out of most half-hearted music videos these days, song failed to grasp me though.
If Sound Awake was them at their best, and it wasn't an amazing album, then this could be terrible but I have hope in they asses.
|
| |
but sound awake was incredible ^
|
| |
To paraphrase Omaha:
"Your opinion is not objective enough. Herpaderp."
No offense man, but that was a nonsensical comment. When musicians put out a single song, that single
song gets listened to and judged. You can't be bleethering about the album as a whole because it is
not out for reference and context. People talk about what they have to go on, which in my case is just
disappointing songs that are far worse than anything off Themata and Sound Awake.
The Refusal being a B-side is neither confirmed nor rejected, so it's irrelevant.
|
| |
well it's on the track listing for the album so...
|
| |
Zuzek, that came out more out of frustration than anything else, and you're right. I just know these types of tracks usually make a lot more sense in the album's context-- I just think it's important to keep that in mind while hearing new songs, especially from a band like Karnivool that has a certain ebb and flow to their albums.
|
| |
That guitar tone is so sweet
|
| |
Video was weird, seems like they're gonna make a continuation of the video with another song.
I thought they made the drums a bit too loud and intrusive, it was drowning out all the other instruments and even Kenny's voice. It wasn't even that nice a drum beat, it was just banging the cymbal as loud as he possibly could. It might grow on me though.
|
| |
Sounds boring but most Karnivool songs usually do at first.
|
| |
will be total poop
|
| |
this was pretty good, way better than the last one
|
| |
"Remember when Autechre said in an interview that bands with more than two members will never be able to create decent music? they were right."
Wank over Autechre then and stop listening to a band you obviously don't enjoy.
|
| |
oh hey, guys look Baseline doesn't like Karnivool
oh hey, guys look Baseline doesn't like Karnivool
oh hey, guys look Baseline doesn't like Karnivool
oh hey, guys look Baseline doesn't like Karnivool
|
| |
Who gives a shit? Dude one-starred Gojira, Opeth, Animal Collective, Neurosis...
|
| |
This was sick, sick, sick as fuck.
|
| |
Wow, Baseline doesn't like something? WHO COULD HAVE GUESSED
|
| |
Artwork is also cool
|
| |
Baseline is not to be taken seriously =]
|
| |
oh hey, it's Baseline
|
| |
I always like the artwork these guys have on their albums. This might be my favorite yet
|
| |
Fucking awesome.
|
| |
Kinda bored me.
|
| |
Gob Bluth has a wonderful singing voice
|
| |
a wonderful singing voice has God Bluth
|
| |
"Because I have more ratings than 95% of the users from this site"
why would you brag about wasting time on a site like this lol
|
| |
bringonthebreakdown, stop it! you're only making Baseline feel better for not being one of us! stahp!
|
| |
"Because I have more ratings than 95% of the users from this site"
101 ratings is nothing..
|
| |
I can't wait for this. How can you call this boring?
|
| |
base is a musical expert bow down idiots
|
| |
sounds good
|
| |
expert? more like fucking retarded idiot troll asshole
|
| |
dude you 5'd 2 coheed records you should suck her dick and bow down
|
| |
base's opinions are just so next-gen as to appear trolleriffic
|
| |
the queens of prog return
|
| |
To be honest, without that stupid video in the foreground, I rather enjoy the track. I can imagine that it's a grower, so I imagine I'll keep coming back to it
|
| |
I've only heard this once but I honestly enjoyed it more than the majority of Sound Awake
|
| |
I've never really found this band very exciting. This song doesn't change that.
|
| |
On sixth listen and I'm actually really digging it now
"I've only heard this once but I honestly enjoyed it more than the majority of Sound Awake"
This is madness
|
| |
Yeah but most of Sound Awake really wasn't that great. So that's why
|
| |
No, see, you've got it all wrong - Sound Awake was incredible from start to finish. You've got it all wrong.
|
| |
Sound Awake is still one of my favourite albums, I expect this album to be excellent but not quite on the same level.
|
| |
Yeah, will prob be a 4.5/5
|
| |
"Sound Awake is still one of my favourite albums, I expect this album to be excellent but not quite on the same level."
Yeah I agree, it already looks as though it won't be quite as much of a jump as SA was from Themata. With that said, I imagine they'll have honed their sound a little more and have plenty of epic/unique moments to bite into
|
| |
well if you mean those are 5s then it's actually 11.1%
|
| |
"4.5???? are you saying artists like Johann Sebastian Bach, Charles Mingus and Autechre are only 10% better than these asshats?"
That guy from Skid Row? And Charles Mingus? What is that, a joke name?
|
| |
finally heard this, liking it a lot more than the refusal
|
| |
^agree with scoot
vid was pretty cool too. i dug it
|
| |
"4.5???? are you saying artists like Johann Sebastian Bach, Charles Mingus and Autechre are only 10% better than these asshats?"
Who?
;).
|
| |
I could go for a can of Mingus Dew
|
| |
Holy fuck this song gets better with every listen
|
| |
ah
|
| |
hmm ill give it another listen and see
|
| |
yeh it is getting better. p good but nothing mind blowing. vid is ????
|
| |
Think this is a great song. Will particularly be interesting to hear 'The Refusal' with these production values too...
|
| |
i don't understand why people on Sputnik hate this band so much.
|
| |
I fugging love this band! Holy shit I cannot wait for this record to finally drop.
|
| |
"i don't understand why people on Sputnik hate this band so much."
They dont...look at the average ratings for the albums. But every hype train has it's backlash, it's inevitable
|
| |
The song alpha is actually called "Alpha Omega".
Also the track times are on wikipedia. Quite a mixture of lengths.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asymmetry_(album)
|
| |
I spy instrumental filler
4 years to write instrumental filler
But seriously interesting track lengths, more Themata than Sound Awake except the 7 minute epics
|
| |
Got a feeling there may be a few "The Medication Wears Off" kind of songs on the new album with track lengths. Hopefully the short songs still kick ass.
Looks like the album is an album to listen to all the way through. Themata's individual songs stood up fine by themselves.
Like I said before, this album seems to be Themata and Sound Awake combined.
|
| |
i only see 3 of the 14 songs that look like filler/interlude things going by the times
|
| |
That was pretty good.
|
| |
Brilliant that they named the last track 'Om' like the male choir from Sound Awake
|
| |
Yeah so this is now my most anticpated release of this year besides Tool and Cynic.
LEAK! OR STREAM IT OR.....SOMETHING HAPPEN!
|
| |
Er dont mean to be a killjoy but it was confirmed there will be no new Tool album this year
Maynard said he hasnt even written any songs for Tool!
|
| |
Danny Carey said he's pretty confident it'll be out by the end of the year. I think the album is almost done instrumentally but needs vocals on it now.
|
| |
Ah what the fuck
Who even knows what those guys are doing anymore
|
| |
