Linkin Park Drummer Updates

2006-12-22 by Jom | 8 Comments
Rob Bourdon, drummer for Linkin Park, told AOL Music this past Wednesday that he is so eager to begin playing live again that he's literally dreaming about it.

Said Bourdon:

It was like one of those dreams where you go to school and you realize you don't have any pants on. All of a sudden we had come out of the studio and we were onstage, and I hadn't had a chance to rehearse or go over any of the stuff again. It was just like playing on the fly.

Launch News reports that Bourdon might have to wait a while before his dream comes true, though, since Linkin Park's first confirmed date of 2007 is a headlining slot at New Jersey's Great Bamboozle festival on May 6.

Despite this, the band is hard at work on its third studio album. Again, Bourdon offers a quotation:

I can't wait to play the new stuff, because I think that the fans are going to be really pleasantly surprised by the new direction that we've taken our music.

Fans will have to kill their curiosity with LPU6, the latest of the group's annual fan club holiday EPs and the first to also be available through Best Buy.

The six-song EP, which is a mix of live and studio tracks, includes two new songs from the band's current recording sessions. One of those is "Qwerty," which Bourdon calls "probably the heaviest song we've ever written."

As for the new studio album: it's still untitled and due sometime in 2007. The group has been recording with Rick Rubin and has promised a different sound from its previous efforts.

What this new sound and direction is, however, remains to be heard.

That's not really saying much, unless they compare it to 'One Step Closer' or 'Faint', which still aren't very heavy anyway.

Still looking forward to the new CD, hopefully it's at least better than Meteora.

I'm really looking forward to the new CD, as I'm curious what direction they will take. Not that I think I will start listen to them a lot again, that stopped years ago. Still, I'm curious

I liked HT, Reanimation and Meteora years ago, but I still give it a listen sometimes. I don't know what to expect, only that I don't like Qwerty.

Progressive LP ?

Well I remember someone on this site posting an article on them a couple months ago and they had a new song on youtube. It was pretty heavy.

Heavier then any of their other stuff at least.

What a crappy drummer. How does he not fall asleep playing the music he does?

He's actually a very good drummer. Listen to Faint and you'll discover that's it's not any simple drumbeat (well, as far as mainstream music goes).

I actually listened to the song again after you said it had pretty good drums, but you must have been listening to a different song. The beginning of Faint is the only thing that you could have possibly been suggesting as being good and it sounded it may have even been done on a drum machine. I must say that any average drummer could play that part. Any extreme metal drummer puts this moron to shame.

Sincerely
Yours
