Scott Weiland recently discussed Velvet Revolver's upcoming album Libertad, the follow-up to 2004's debut Contraband.
Weiland remarks:
I haven't been this excited about a rock record since 1993, when I went into the studio to record Purple, which was recorded in just 10 days, with producer Brendan O'Brien at the helm.
O'Brien has worked with Incubus and Rage Against the Machine.
When asked about Libertad, Weiland went on to say:
[It's] a really inspired rock and roll album, but it's got many textures. It's multidimensional, which I think is one thing Brendan brings out in artists. I think he's brought out the best in this band, and, I mean, these guys [guitarists Dave Kushner and Slash, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Matt Sorum] are amazing players, and they're capable of anything. They've reached completely new heights, and pulled something out of themselves. Instead of doing what's completely comfortable, what they've done before, they have gone to new places, emotionally, musically and spiritually.
[The album] is completely colorful in a new way, but it is definitely not a concept album.
As previously reported by our eye in the sky Spat Out Plath in Chopper Four, Velvet Revolver has written over eighteen tracks for the disc, including "Pills, Demons, Etc.", "Just 16", "Get Out The Door", and "Queen For A Day."
