Scale The Summit New Bassist

2012-04-04 by Josh D. | 23 Comments
Houston progressive metallers Scale the Summit have announced April 3 that Jordan Eberhart, the original bass player, has decided to leave the band. News comes from the band's official website:

"We are also proud to announce Mark Michell (Tetrafusion) as our new full time bassist. Jordan decided earlier in the year he no longer wanted to tour full time so we have decided to part ways. We have had great luck having all original members for the past 3 full lengths and over 6 years! We wish him the best and are really excited to see what Mark brings to the band! So far are first rehearsal went great! Mark’s first show with us is April 21st, in Bridgeport CT for Fauxchella Fest at Gallery 305K. We have also uploaded a play through video for our longest and hardest song off “Carving Desert Canyons”, “Giants” to give everyone a taste of Mark’s playing! Make sure to check that out via our YouTube channel!” www.youbtube.com/scalethesummit

The announcement comes on the heels of the release their second headlining tour, with support from Today I Caught The Plague. Dates and more information are posted on the band's website.

This will definitely affect their stage presence, as Jordan had all the energy of the band. The new guy is pretty good, but I bought Tetrafusion's first album ages ago, and it wasn't anything special.

Hopefully this guy can bring something out of the ordinary to the table. Not that they "need it", so to speak, but I'd love to see how this could alter their sound or writing style.

Mark certainly does bring something out of the ordinary to the table. Just look at him play some pieces of the new EP:

...which, by the way, is their best release to date, so RooseveltsGhost should reinspect Tetrafusion.

Complete truth. Mark is among the most scarily talented and creative prog metal bassists on the planet, and even Myung should be looking behind him!

Jordan's a beast, really sad to see him go. Put on a great performance when I saw them.

"Jordan had all the energy of the band"

They all just stand there, basically.

It's too bad, but it is an amicable split and the new guy looks like he will fit in. I'm disappointed they aren't playing here. They opened their first headline tour here, but I couldn't make it. So....fuck.

No excuses Josh. Scale the Summit usually skips Seattle on their tours, but I still haven't missed one since I first saw them with PTH in 09. I've seen them in SLC, San Diego, Denver, Portland and Atlanta. This time I'm headed to either Vegas or Richmond

I first saw them shortly after they moved back from LA. They opened for a band I used to see a lot, and I got a demo they were handing out. Last time I saw them, I got them all to sign it. They've only played here once since.
