@TAB- No dude. In other words, this sounds like a more 'grungy' Pearl Jam as opposed to the super polished pop rock album that was Backspacer. Don't get me wrong, Backspacer was great, but how the hell does "not too polished" and Pearl Jam sound out of place for you?

Definitely one of the most consistent rock bands of their era, I can't honestly think of a single bad album they've ever released, so this should be good.

Not that big of a PJ fan, but definitely curious what 'experimental Pearl Jam' means.

They've always been experimental, and they'll certainly never attempt to make another Ten (that they would is an idiotic notion), and their sound is more or less the antithesis of "polished."

In terms of experimentation, I'm hoping for something in the same vein as "You Are" or "Sleight of Hand".

Backspacer was pretty good but hopefully they'll do better with this.

The last album by these guys was Binaural which was quite uneven. Not really stoked for this.

I should check this , most of their albums are very good

saw pearl jam in september was probably the longest set of songs I have ever seen by one band... like 30ish... was fuckin awesome and they had mudhoney open for them! bad ass band

Great news. Backspacer was a disappointment and easily PJ’s weakest album. Any departure from that will be welcomed. Many of PJ’s more interesting songs (Sleight of Hand, Help Help, You Are, etc.) are of the experimental variety (experimental for PJ that is). I for one am really looking forward to hearing where they go with this. As Stone said, hopefully this release will be “kind of weird for Pearl Jam” and our “favorite period” of newer Pearl Jam music. I just hope the release comes sooner rather then later.

I couldn't ever get into this band like I did Soundgarden or other bands from the 90's, but they have some really good singles.
