Foo Fighters gig causes quake

2011-12-16 by Voivod STAFF | 71 Comments
During their Dec. 13 concert in Auckland, New Zealand, Foo Fighters caused geological vibrations similar to those stemming from regular volcanic activity.

The vibrations were noticeable within a range of 1.5-2 kilometres around the venue, at which the concert took place.

50,000 fans attended the show, which signified a temporary halt to the band's worldwide tour.

First off: lol that not only did you make that mistake but also whoever approved this didn't pick up on it either. Secondly: the geological vibrations were not at all similar to those that stem from volcanic eruptions, just regular volcanic activity

No, it's legit. I was reading about it earlier. Geonet simply reported that 50,000 people in one confined spot produced sonic vibrations - not exactly ground breaking hurr hurr

Same thing happened at the World Cup final

Thomas must be banned for thinking I'm a kiwi.

Saw them 10 days earlier & they RAWKED as per usual. I did not feel the earth move however, nor was there a volcanic erection.

First off: Dev for news editor!!!

Secondly: I was under the impression that a volcanic eruption is considered among the list of phenomena that file under the phrase "volcanic activity", however after your post Dev, i think i should reconsider lol

Shits me that people think Aus and NZ are the same.

Also, I get the World Cup producing vibrations, but not a concert, though, yes with that many people sure. It is FF after all so kinda makes sense.
