He's been signing for over 20 years. Albeit his songs have mainly been comedic.
As for "HallucinogeNick" you realize he doesn't write the show, his performance is amazing no matter what the writing is. You may be shocked to find that he is actually english, I read somewhere that when they casted them they didn't even know he was english because his american accent was so good.
Check out the classic british sketch show A Bit of Fry & Laurie (Stephen Fry is the fry, you may have heard of him as well) it's some really smart humour.

^yessir. Laurie used to be a real Brit, shamefully many seem to be unaware of the man's pre-House career, also had a recurring supporting role in Blackadder.
