sounds good, didn't know this was coming out
|

Eric Whitacre makes me feel less confident as a composer.
|
| |
whitacre is a beast. i will be checking this out.
|
| |
Are there new compositions on here?
This is very good news.
|
| |
God bless Eric Whitacre
|
| |
Nothing new, but I don't think "The Seal Lullaby" has been recorded before. And of what I've heard so far, these are by far the best recordings around. Especially "Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine" and "Three Songs of Faith".

GODAMMIT THAT ONE CHORD IN WATER NIGHT IS SO RIDUCLUOS
|
| |
there he goes!
|
| |
i've been looking forward to this for a while. namely for the recordings of the Stolen Child and Nox Aurumque.
|
| |
i met him in '05 when he conducted a bunch of his works at my high school. he's frustratingly cool. anyone with that much talent should have some sort of sociological problems to balance out, but both he and his wife are great people. i'll definitely pick this up.

"I can't believe this is on here. He is the biggest classical fag of all time. His music is so dumb and sooo same-y. While everyone is going to masturbate to this bullshit the fucking Bad Plus just came out with a new album and it has 2 votes. This website makes no sense."
troll much?

@dminorshero i am a girl...so if some music is considered "gay" to listen to that doesn't really concern me.

Love Whitacre.
|

Must check this out. Playing a song of his in Wind Ensemble, and singing one in A Cappella choir. Both are awesome.
|
| |
This guy is absolutely brilliant. The choir I'm in is singing Lux Aurumque and it's one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever heard. He's truly amazing.
|
| |
I played a Wind Ensemble version of Lux Aurumque a few years ago. It totally blew me away. "October" was even better.
|
| |
I was lucky enough to be in a pretty talented high school choir. In 2008 we performed "A Boy and a Girl" and in 2005 we performed "Sleep."
The year before my freshman year they sang "Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine" and I'm really disappointed I missed out on that.
|
| |
We did "Sleep" in my HS chamber choir, and it was the shit.
|
| |
You don't have to keep calling it "Wind Ensemble" outside of school. Trust me...can you even imagine the amount of fart jokes you kids have been unwittingly subjected to?
|
| |
Visited my choir backstage at ACDA a few years back, incredible dude. I wonder if he liked our interpretation of This Marriage.
Btw, I think he's one of the few classical composers who doesn't necessarily compromise his modern stylings for tasteful composition, his fans aren't super elitist since, hell most of us are music nerds anyway and we want to share the love. +1 to Tyler Fisher
|
| |
aw fucking yeah
|
| |
Woah... discussing classical music?
Didn't know we had Whitacre enthusiasts here... I once heard the college choir where I attended perform I think it's called 'A Boy and A Girl' or something from Cloudburst. It was such an awesome song.
|
| |
This guy is the man.
|
| |
sung sleep and go lovely rose in HS choir, the man is a freak of nature.
|
| |
Bad Plus are good
|
| |
Also, Whitacre kinda looks like Sawyer from Lost, js
