I hope people on here bitch and complain how fucking retarded the title for this album is like they did when the title for the new My Chemical Romance was released.

This sounds more rock than metal. By like, the playing style and vibe. Hard to explain, but I don't really like the change, not for this band at least.

could be 2 bad poops in a year, not liking the thread vibe

I don't think it'll be a poop. Just not as good as the band has done before.

Reminds me more of Thrice/Cave In than Neurosis/Isis of the past.

I listened again, and it kinda grew on me...

The song really picks up about halfway through

I don't mean it's bad, it's just disappointing. There are still plenty of tracks left so we'll wait and see.

I just didn't find it interesting at all. I know it'll get better with listens, but I'm not sure how much better it will get. As far as metal goes, I'm really just looking forward to Marrow of the Spirit.

Yeah, It's been a long a long wait for that one.

I've only listened to this twice as I don't want to spoil the albums consistency when I play it through. So you're right with the growing part.

I was mildly interested until the 0:45 mark, and by the time he started singing again I remembered why I hated Heliocentric.

Honestly, if these two albums were from an up and coming new band, instead of The Ocean, I might enjoy them more than I do. Considering the difference in quality and style between Precambrian/Aeolian/Fluxion/Fogdiver and this though, I can't dig it. It's missing that groove.

What's wrong with Anthropocentric?

Nothing. I'm a dumbass. Read the article wrong.

hell yes.

i'd like to give props to these dudes for not doing the same thing over and over and over and over and over again like everyone would like them to do, and instead freshen up their sound. can't wait for this. i really liked heliocentric, but i've got a feeling this will stomp it.

Yea, I'm not seeing what the huge problem is the song is pretty good.
Not quite as heavy as the old stuff but gotta change it up sometime.
Only thing I thought was the chorus was a bit too soaring, otherwise I'm feeling this more than Helio so far.

The two songs released so far are pretty damn decent. Better then most of Helio.
But again, Precambrian and Aeolian and Fluxicon are a million times better then anything recent.

I miss the vocals and growls sooooo bad!!!

Songs grown on me a lot. Good to see that they're writing more complicated material (structure-wise at least) on this one.

It was said early on that Helio was going to be more progressive, and Anthro more sludge.

Ie:

Helio like Precambrian (It wasn't, but the song structures were)
Anthro like Aeolian/Fluxicon in terms of heaviness and tempo.

Wow this band sucks. I thought their newer album was supposed to be heavy and not sucky!

True, it is disappointing that it isn't as relentless as Aeolian and most of Precambrian, but this song wasn't bad - unlike all of Heliocentric.

That single vocalist still is awful compared to the two vocalists they had before. The cleans are awful and the screams are mundane.

They used to have two vocalists? I always thought they had just the one, with lots of guest vocals on Aeolian and possibly Precambrian if memory serves me right. Then again, Fluxion was really the only one I listened to that much, so I could be wrong.

no, you're right. guest vocalists on aeolian/precambrian. loic is pretty good, though. it's just the song structures/lack of climax that bother me.
