you can obviously tell what other bands they listen to here. just listen to the iron maiden-styled twin guitar leads, and the metallica-styled ending minute and a half.

I have a feeling that this will probably be their last good or even decent album.

I think Avenged Sevenfold is one of that bands that you need to listen a few times to understand their music and start to like it. This song is good once you have listened to it several times.

Meh song, a lot of the riffs sound like they're taken directly from Metallica songs (esp. Fade To Black and The Unforgiven).

They can't write good riffs for shit anymore, they're basically all down-tuned chugs on upbeats followed by a single open chord.

Too much hate for this song. I love it and people need to stop comparing a7x to other bands. You could give me any band and I could find some similarities to another band. For instance, TMV sounds like Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin had a less talented baby

I love them though, and personally I thought Tommy sounded better live than in the studio.

It's not their musical ability that it's question, they're undoubtedly one of the most genuinely talented group of modern day metal musicians (and they're live performances do dictate that). Rather it's their songwriting that's attacked, similar to bands such as Tool and Dream Theater, who tend to be bashed for being complicated simply for being complicated.

Also people are assholes.
