Yuck...Bands like Parkway Drive ruin the music scene.
|
| |
Yeah because the metalcore scene has such an awesome reputation
|
| |
with there good music? Sure they may be a little (very) generic but i think they pull of metalcore very well.
|
| |
Can u hear me iz she concious??!
|
| |
"Yuck...Bands like Parkway Drive ruin the music scene."
THE music scene
|
| |
Easily the greatest album i've ever heard if not the greatest ever of all time.
|
| |
OH YES, I will now stop listening to OK Computer to listen to this. I am dead serious.
|
| |
Already have the full album LOL, I refuse to wait till the release date :D
|
| |
Ruin the music scene? What a ridiculous comment. It's unbelievable how there are so many retards lingering on this site. A large amount of people judged this before it was leaked or streamed. It's a solid release. Have a cry because it's full of breakdowns, so what? The vocalist is probably one of the best screamers out there & the guitar work is excellent. It may be generic for some, but they're not trying to be complex and progressive.
|
| |
OOOMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGG PAAAAAAAAAAAAPAPAPAPAPARRRKKKKWWWWAAAAAAYYY
|
| |
On first listen I don't mind it. The production is a bit too polished for my liking but the addition of the group vocals and clean guitar parts are a nice touch. Nothing amazing here but I have always enjoyed parkway for what they are, bit of fun.
Winston is still a beast and still writes some very cringeworthy lyrics.
|
| |
Don´t know why everyone hates this band.
And Caliban is okay or what?? XD
|
| |
charlie15, I've always felt like there is no point to listen an album if it brings absolutely nothing new to the table. Or at least does the things it does well. Why would you listen to this when you can listen to their older albums? Or do the smart thing and actually listen to some "metalcore" that doesn't suck (at least not as much), like Misery Signals?
And for the record, I did stop listening to OK Computer and I did listen to this. What a stupid thing that was to do. The album is not terrible but it sure as hell isn't good or interesting either. Still waiting for the moment I get why bands like this stuff breakdown EVERYWHERE. Those just make the songs sound gay, it doesn't make them sound heavier or whatever they are supposed to do.
|
| |
reckon theres about 12 million breakdowns in this.
|
| |
cool
|
| |
yess
|
| |
enough of this chit chat, did someone say they do breakdowns now?
|
| |
it's their new thing, gonna revolutionize hardcore
|
| |
holy shit, it might just change THE music industry
|
| |
... again
|
| |
chugga chugga innovative
|
| |
i cant decide whether to listen to this or haste the days new one... at the moment at least.
|
| |
(thoughts while writing deep blue) Hey guys! lets scrap any melody and any form of substance that was from Horizons and KWAS and replace them with large amounts of chug! It will throw our fans one hell of a curveball!
|
| |
I'm excited to hear it but I'm not going to interrupt myself listening to Wolves In The Throne Room.
|
| |
smokescreens that's a fair enough justification but even though the album brings nothing new to the table, it's still a decent release. I have Controller and it's an excellent album. MS produce a more diverse and technical sound without the necessity of 100 breakdowns but that doesn't mean that this new offering by Parkway is horrible. It seems they've put a decent effort into it and it's a shame people on here are so quick to judge. Bands like Converge, Dillinger etc. are all more technical and progressive in comparison but it doesn't mean that Parkway don't do metalcore well.
|
| |
i like parkway
|
| |
*its
|
| |
shut up, you sad internet dweebs.
is that all you people can criticise?
a band's slight use of breakdowns?
somebody, please... think of something original and thoughtful to criticise.
|
| |
"something original and thoughtful"
well thats just the problem...
|
| |
actually could you ask the band to think of something and original and thoughtful instead?
|
| |
what the fuck is with all the breakdowns omg?!?!?!?!?!
|
| |
i cant decide whether to listen to this or haste the days new one... at the moment at
least.
just listen to burning bridges and weep, bro
|
| |
RunAmokRampant, you must have immediately thought of that one.
The sad thing about Sputnik these days, is that it is filled with elitist corruption that is basically a group of failed English teachers or a group of indie/prog creamers that disregard almost everything that attempts to make a living out of music by making it accessible.
Parkway Drive's 'Deep Blue' is awesome, and it wont lose them any fans.
|
| |
bro backwards is orb
|
| |
"attempts to make a living out of music by making it accessible"
music is about money, i found out the secret
|
| |
i thought it was about da passion

Parkway Drive's 'Deep Blue' is awesome, and it wont lose them any fans. Actually it's full of people that seem to fall into the category of
a. People who hate breakdowns and therefore hate albums that use them as an important songwriting ingredient.
b. People who like breakdowns but realize that they have become a bit overused (although they don't care)
or c. People like you who throw a hissy fit any time somebody disses their favorite album, and whine about other people whining.
|
| |
d. people like me who hate music and are just here for the social networking
|
| |
I come here because no one likes me in the real world
|
| |
what's the over-under on reviews for this ablum in the next 24 hours?
if we set it at 2.5, my money's on over
|
| |
I found the album to be really boring. I felt like nothing happened.
|
| |
you just can't appreciate a breakdown
|
| |
Haven't heard the whole thing yet. The performance is rather energetic, and it's obvious that the band is trying. The music is generic and not outstandingly written, which really kills the release. 3/5 thus far.
|
| |
Yeah, these guys can throw down and chug some breakdowns...
but you know what would make them even better?

If they could chug some brewskies like these brocore brothers.
|
| |
I've listened to the majority of the album and it sucks (despite a few bright points) until you hit the track "Deliver Me." After that track I start to hear good horizons music and it becomes enjoyable. I liked a lot of the tracks after it. Which means the first 7 suck ass and the rest are good. little Half-N-Half.
Edit: "Alone" is alright.
|
| |
These simplistic breakdowns are basically the dumbing down of our music... Just like every other element of our lives, this also has to be made to appeal mainly to the sheeple.
If I hear that fucking open top string going "duh...duh duh duh duh.... duh duh... duh duhh duhhh... again, I'm gonna show up, rip it off and decapitate the guitar players of these shitty bands.
|
| |
The best part of this album was when it ended and Boneyards came on their myspace.
|
| |

NO!, that was the best part of the album except all the parts that went 'dun.. dun dun... dun dun dun
or CHUG, CHUG GHUG, CHUG CHUGGA CHUN CHUG.'
This band is really innovate in the way they manage to use fret 1 all the way down to 0 in their songs
|
| |
they seem to have run out of amazing ideas : (. nothing is as epic as horizons or KWAS
|
| |
i like breakdowns and this still is fucking boring
|
| |
LOL @ Cogitus. I couldnt agree more. It is a grower though in its defense i feel better about some tracks. its got about 5 solid ones. 5/13 isn't too great though.
|
| |
This is pretty boring, not that I was expecting something amazing or anything...
|
| |
"These simplistic breakdowns are basically the dumbing down of our music... Just like every other element of our lives, this also has to be made to appeal mainly to the sheeple."
Oh FFS
When you say "our music" you basically mean you have some ownership of the entire metal genre, which has constantly evolved for the last 40 odd years without a single backwards step or gimmick until this point in time.
Also you're saying listening to commercial radio featuring the likes of nickleback, ke$ha and which ever wanna be rapper happened to do the best job of sucking a record executives penis on the day they were giving out contracts will not dumb you down as much as a few breakdowns in a song?
Oh and the sheeple reference whilst appearing to sound intelligent isn't really relevant in the context.
|
| |
album is decent, some good, some bad/filler
|
| |
Aahahah.
I bet eleventhsun wears a fedora and thinks he's sophisticated and we're all sheeple. God, what elitist nerds.
|
| |
bitches be trippin
|
| |
I'm actually listening to this. Already at a breakdown.
Sometimes I wonder why good labels (Epitaph/Burning Heart) sign bad bands (Parkway Drive).
|
| |
Haven't checked this out yet, but i'm not expecting it to top their older stuff. Sleepwalker grew on me though...
|
| |
Sometimes I wonder why good labels (Epitaph/Burning Heart) sign bad bands (Parkway Drive).
$
cause they're relatively popular
|
| |
I've thought about that. Bring Me the Horizon and Parkway Drive are probably needed for Epitaph so that it can support its good bands that don't sell as much.
|
| |
Deep Blue >>>> Haste The Day's new shit tho...
|
| |
alone, pressures and leviathan i are all good
the rest is so bland it's embarrassing to listen to
|
| |
DUN DUN, DUN DUN DUN DUN, DUN DUN, DUN DUN DUN DUN
|
| |
Bring Me the Horizon and Parkway Drive are now equals as far as I'm concerned.
|
| |
only good song is pressures.... rest are pretty much just crap......
|
| |
so when bands innovate they get ripped for alienating their fans, and when they don't innovate they get ripped for being boring? lol
album is ok if what you're expecting is a decent metalcore album
seems like everyone expects the next "dark side of the moon" from every band at every turn
|
| |
Yes, Foulcity, yes.
Also, a Tool fanboy is not somebody who simply enjoys thier albums.
|
| |
Parkgay Drive amirite
|
| |
Parkway Drive is just a boring metalcore band and that is what I was expecting.
|
| |
@laterenima your point up there is amazing and I love you. shut up people who hate on breakdowns it won't stop people who like them from listening to them. it's a pretty good album
|
| |
Yes promiseswept, it seems that everybody is so quick to criticise.
Why hate, when you can love?
|
| |
boring production, boring song writing, the crispness to their sound which made them so much better is now gone, shoulda stuck with adam D, no one makez dem breakdownzzz bettter.
|
| |
comments about comments about commenters making comments about comments.
|
| |
"Bring Me the Horizon and Parkway Drive are now equals as far as I'm concerned."
Scoot has officially been assigned 'Idiot of the year award' for that comment.
|
| |
Ummmmm, I'm gonna go listen to the new Haste the Day again. Way more exciting. Way less breakdown-flooded.
|
| |
I would disagree with the Bring Me The Horizon comment seems off because Parkway went from good to bad and Bring me the horizon went from bad to average.
|
| |
U´re all retarded as fuck
|
| |
We are all retarded as fuck, Ray.
|
| |
laterenima's views on deep blue are one's of great love for a great band, i dont think sputnik was created to make a fool of yourself so shut the fuck up... and enjoy the endless breakdowns and growls from winston mccall !
|
| |
GUNS! RASZORSZ! KNYfZE!
|
| |
Today I thaw.
|
| |
@Laterenima: F*** me!
|
| |
I haven't even clicked the link. Is it worth it? It feels like I'll just be terribly underwhelmed
|
| |
parkway drive is the new metallica
|
| |
I like Home Is For The Heartless.
"IF HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IZ, WHY DO I FEEL SO FUCKING HEARTLESS"
|
| |
the album fails
|
| |
I may one of the few who actually thought it was a strong album. Gonna buy it when it comes out.
|
| |
