I don't know how Anthrax is considered one of the "Big Four". I've seen them twice and have yet to be impressed. I'd rather listen to Bush on the new Armored Saint album than anything from Anthrax. And the new AS isn't even amazing or anything, just very competent.

I saw them when they reunited with Belladonna in 2003 with Danny Spitz and all. I have to say that they were good and it was quite entertaining. I am glad that I got to add that to my list of shows. Although, I really never was too big on them. However, working for the radio station, I did get to interview Danny Spitz before the show.

Testament aren't part of the big 4 because their first album came out like half a decade after the big 4 debuted. not saying they're not better (although it's close, Anthrax w/ Belladonna was pretty great, although Testament's been more consistent for the most part), but they just weren't one of the 4 pioneers of American thrash metal.

Testament formed (in late 1983) after Slayer, Metallica and Anthrax already had at least one album released. Their debut came about 4-5 years after the rest of those bands'.

they didn't release their debut until 1985, but they were around since 1980 and were arguably the first band to actually play thrash metal.

plus they've been very consitent with their output and have never really been through a 'bad period', unlike the big four, Testament and Exodus
