Frontman Tim Lambesis stated that while some bands "need to rush out a crappy record so they can start touring again to pay their bills," As I Lay Dying had been working hard to "make a record worth listening to (hopefully), and start touring again when we're done."

Definitely sounds like this will be their heaviest album yet, solid song. I'm looking forward to this.

Ofcourse they still maintained their sound while at the same time, have gotten heavier. It's more aggressive and I reckon the whole album will be like that, if not heavier. Up to this point, I would say the heaviest thing they have done is Comfort Betrays from An Ocean Between Us.

Everyone in the band shows potential on this song, but I think it falls short. There's a lot to like so I think the album will be decent, just kind of felt underwhelmed by that.

AILD haven't done much for me since Shadows Are Security. I found that album to be really good. This is just meh... and what is heavy about it?

AILD have never had a single damn original bone in their body, they just keep replacing parts. Now it seems like they heard some Darkest Hour and the new Immolation album and REALLY liked them. Still, I like how they're straying away from conventional metalcore and morphing into conventional death metal.

Back in the day when I loved this kind of stuff (like 6 years ago), I thought this band was great; seen em live 5 times (often with other bands that I wanted to see). They do put on one hell of a show, I'll give em that.

I didn't really hear much metalcore in that song at all... maybe just the vocals. Sounded more like groove-metal though, maybe some Sepultura influences? I dunno, there were just no distinguishable traits that made me think metalcore. Like, if someone had played me that song with a different vocalist (bc I'd recognize Tim right away) and didn't tell me who it was, there's no way I would've pegged that as metalcore.

nah I would still say that it sounds like metalcore without the vocalist; the guitar has that really irritating 'thin and whiney' metalcore sound, and the drums are too heavy/fast to be groove metal

but groove metal sucks either way so if you're trying to say it sucks, then you would be correct ;P

Ah, your forgetting 94 hours is good + guys song is not heavy, way softer than stuff from frail words, bigger crystal clear production with guitar parts layered over each other 50 times is NOT heavy

94 Hours is good, but the album itself is barely decent. The 2 albums that followed were much better.

I personally LOVE An Ocean Between Us and 3 years is a long time to wait for an album. Fans of the band wouldn't be dissapointed but gaining new fans, I don't quite know about that but they could still gain new fans with this album.

It was disappointing for the entire first half, but the second half got somewhat interesting. If they can top off Comfort Betrays heavy-wise, I'll be more than happy to get this album. It's one of my favorites off their previous album.
