Decent song.

the "woah-oh, woah-oh, yeah-eh, yeah-eh" bit makes me want to punch babies

Better than old Trivium but still amazingly lackluster. It makes me cry that I'll have to see this band when I see Iron Maiden though.

I'd go to the show late. :pThis Message Edited On 08.23.06

Meh. Not terrible, but not that good either.
The woa-oh's and yea-eh's make me cringe.

They're trying too hard to be Metallica methinks

So far with this, Detonation, and Entrance of the Conflagration, Trivium are certainly progressing technically. BUT, the direction they are heading in is a bad one if they want to become the so-called Metallica of our generation. They seem to be afraid of finding a sound that they can call their own, i.e. theyre scared shitless of taking chances. So they revert back to their influences and try to mask the fact that theyre lacking in creativity by producing near-carbon copies of the songs and sound of their heroes. This way, by sounding like metal in the Good Ol Days, they feel theyll convince peopel they are hardcore. But the true hardcore bands, the ones with the possibility of being called the Metallicas of our generation (if that is even possible) are those who bring a new sense of direction and style to metal in todays heavy music scene. This Message Edited On 08.23.06This Message Edited On 08.23.06

I don't care about them being "posers" or whatever, they just are really trying to copy Metallica.
Also the fact that they label themselves thrash kind of bothers me. Atleast they're not calling themselves "hardcore" or "metalcore".

Very boring song. I think they sounded better on their previous record.

I didn't think it was that bad. This Message Edited On 08.24.06

Wow, this is pretty awful. Still not as bad as Entrance of the Conflagration (pure garbage), but I'm almost starting to feel sorry for Trivium.

People don't even know what to bitch about anymore. The Trivium complaints are completely contradictory. People only bitch about Trivium because it's fashionable to do so. This Message Edited On 08.23.06

No, Trivium is just that bad. Just like this song. While its better than that stuff on the past album, its still not that good.
|

I'm glad Heafy ditched his horrid screamed/groaned vocals.
Not a very original sounding, but I enjoy it more than old trivium.
The bass is more audible now that's always a plus for me.

Metallica should be suing Trivium for stealing music.
|
| |
This is hopeless. I might as well just bash on them too because no one will listen to reason when it comes to Trivium.

NO DONT GIVE IN! If you do i'll be the only one left saying this isn't too bad. This Message Edited On 08.25.06

I listened to Ascendency in its entirety and hated it. If you are unable to deal with the fact that I have an informed opinion about Trivium and still hate them, that's not my fault.

But this doesn't sound like Ascendancy at all. This Message Edited On 08.27.06

Here are a few facts about Trivium: They have toured under Iron Maiden and Metallica, both think that they are rising stars. Kirk Hammet is a Trivium fan for Christ-sake. They have Dimebag's personal collection of axes because someone in charge of his estate saw the light and gave the guitars to them. What I'm trying to say, is in the long run people with the popular opinion of a band won't matter because it doesn't matter in the first place. There will always be haters, but if legends of the industry recognize them, don't you think that means something?
|
| |
When the new album comes out, I'll sample a couple tracks to see if they're any good, but I'm not optimistic.
And anyway, I honestly don't care what everybody else thinks of them. I don't like them. I honestly don't care if Kirk Hammet likes them. I'm not Kirk Hammet.
I have my reasons for not liking Trivium. And if you can't accept that, that's your problem and not mine.
|
| |
O.K. I'm glad you have your reasons, I was only mad that it seems everyone hates them because that's the cool thing to do. I hate it when people only hear a song from a band or doesn't even hear that much, but follows with what everyone else is saying.
I respect your opinion.
|

Tom Violence's comment FTW!
|
| |
I've hated them from the moment I heard them and their popularity among successful musicians isn't going to change that. The stuff I've heard from The Crusade is some of the most immature writing I've ever heard from an established band, so it's really hard for me to respect them.
|
| |
That was a pile of crap
|
| |
It sucks.
|
| |
Trivium suck!they get to much of an arse licking from kerrang here in england. they say they want to sound like Metallica, well they don't sound anything like Metallica becasue Metallica would never write sounthing this shit like detonation.
|
| |
I like the solo work, the rest is alright.
|
| |
It's meh.
It might grow on me, it might not.
I know that technically they are getting better, and I can hear the bass well; so that's cool.

I like Trivium and they are one of my favorite bands to listen to at the moment, of course most people on this site think my music tastes suck
|

I preferred their other new song but I don't mind this. I'll probably get the Crusade anyway.
Actually: one thing that is missing in both these new songs for me is the drumming. It just doesn't impress any more, hopefully the rest of the album will have some good drum parts. This Message Edited On 08.27.06

He sure as hell did on Ascendancy and Ember that's for sure. Sometimes minimalist drumming benefits the sound for the song though.
