Tbh i've become less and less interested in themsince they released Seasons, but they've still remained one of the better alt metal bands out there.

They are pretty consistent I agree with that, and I actually liked Chapter VII, it had some of the band's heaviest moments. Though the lyrical content was a step back in many cases.

Chapter VII was a grower, but its probably my favorite sevendust album even if it is a little too dreary at times. i am definitely looking forward to this album

One of the better Nu Metal bands

Have you noticed how nu-metal has stopped being rap-metal and is instead the new wave of mainstream metal like Slipknot and these guys. Its light enough for some of the more mainstream public to enjoy it, but heavy enough that the average metalhead listens as well.
That's just my view.

VII was their best effort to date. I'll give this a listen just for the hell of it, since this was probably my main 'gateway' metal band.

Nice to see a lot of positive comments about this. Sevendust are also some of the nicest guys you will ever meet and they really enjoy putting on a great show for their fans. Also, I think Morgan Rose is a very underrated drummer.

I'm assuming you saw the video of Morgan recording vocals, Payne. I found it hilarious.

@Someguest: I don't know, Next has some pretty good songs in it. Never liked Alpha though.

whoa, did someboday just say VII was their best album to date?!?! It's their WORST album, by far -- it's not even close. That would be like saying Risk was Megadeth's best album.. yikes.

in my oppinion their last really good album was 'seasons'. nonetheless i'm always stoked everytime they release something new. we'll see

Why does everyone like seasons so much??? In my opinion, that was their weakest effort, even more so than next which was still a step ahead of seasons. VII would have been their best had they had some restraint on their intros.

PS. That song with Daughtry was great. Even though American Idol is a joke, Daughtry does have a hell of a voice.

But it was so mainstream, nothing really all that grabbing

Man, you guys must be younger than me or something. I grew up in Atlanta and was going to Sevendust shows before they were called Sevendust (well, a show, shouldn't have been plural). But I have seen them a total of 7 times live. Not saying this is the end-all be-all ranking, but this is how I would do it:

I know a lot of Sevendust fans, but I've never heard anyone say that VII was anything other than their worst album. Very interesting indeed...

VII is fantastic, I love these guys. So pumped they are releasing a new album so soon

Chapter VII was NOT their worst, Walk Away was one of their best songs (at least to me), and it flowed very well.

lol thanks Jason. I actually went back and listened to VII last night after commenting on this thread just to make sure I didn't miss something the first time around. And yeah. It still sucks.

Terrible album

The first song is pretty ok and then everything just falls apart.

I just can't believe they went back to something so generic after Alpha, Granted that wasn't their best effort either but it still kicked large amounts of ass

Alpha has some of my favorite Sevendust moments on it. It wasn't a near-classic like their first three records, but I feel it's the best thing they've done since. And yeah, that's partly why VII was so incredibly disappointing.

Oh yeah, I forgot you were all about Seasons. I honestly haven't listened to it in years, but I'll give it another go-round today dude. I remember liking a few of the songs on it, but just not the album as a whole. It seems like they lost some of the aggression and electronic elements that I loved so much about the first three records. I'll get back to ya

I haven't listen to these guys since Animosity. I don't know, it's hard for me to get into these guys again, but they put on a hell of a show. I wish Morgan would cut down on his screaming add-ons...maybe he did because it has been a while for me since I listened to them. I give them props though.
