New Demon Hunter Album

2009-11-13 by fromtheinside | 36 Comments
Demon Hunter recently released a press release in regards to a fifth studio album. The Christian Metalcore band has 4 studio albums already under their belt since signing with Solid State back in 2002, and have already gone through a slew of line-up changes; with the most recent of which being both guitarists Don Clark and Ethan Luck. Replacing them are Patrick Judge and Randy Torres (Project 86).

Furthermore, Ryan Clark also announced the albums recording status and his sentiments towards the developments:

"...We have been busy working on material for our 5th album, which we will be entering the studio to record in October. At this point, I would say about 90% of the music has been written, and probably about 40% of the lyrics/melodies. As cliché as it can be to say, the album is shaping up to be heavier, faster, and more aggressive than previous Demon Hunter material (and there might be a ballad or two in there for good measure). As always, we're doing our best to maintain the classic DH sound, all while introducing some new and exciting ideas to keep things exciting. I'm extremely proud of what we have so far, and I can't wait to enter the studio and hear it come to life!"

The currently untitled 5 album is expected for release in early 2010.

Of course they're not going to turn into a hard rock outfit, this album is going to be heavier, faster and more aggressive then anything they've done.

Always thought the band was just sort of average. Nothing special, and I most likely won't get their new album.

"Undying" was what got me into Metalcore, so they hold a special place. Probably still won't get this though.

At least they admit they're being cliche. I hope they pull through with what they say.

randy torres leaves one of the best hard rock bands around for a stale metalcore band.

my only hope is that a lineup change will let Project 86 pull an amazing album out of the woodwork.

*GASP!* A metal band's new album is announced to be heavier and faster??? This must mean it'll be awesome! Right, guys?

I like DH, but they're becoming stagnant. I REALLY hope there's a change of direction, but from the description Ryan gave, it sounds exactly the same.

Storm The Gates was averagey - I tried that first
But The Triptych was solid and S.O.D kicks huge amount of ass, so I'm hoping for the best

if you read the note on myspace, Randy is not becoming an offical member of DH (at least right now). He filled in on the recent tour and I guess is helping with the new album. Thats nothing new cuz he does production on a lot of Tooth and Nail/ Solid State records.

ok so he is just filling in. randy wasn't on any of project 86's latest tours though. it just seems odd that he would skip touring with his own band right after a new release, in favor of helping an already well established band.

me too Bloc. When they relax they're like a really enjoyable Daughtry.
