I fail to understand the argument that other diseases (like the common flu) are killers and therefore this potentially fatal disease is not serious. I would think anything causing death is a tad serious, at least to those involved...

The swine flu is just like any flu. I got it. Really not that big a deal.

The problem with the swine flu is that it's not easily controlled. It's spreading rapidly throughout many schools and universities, mine included, and it makes you feel like complete shit for a few days. Sure, you won't die from it, but it'll pretty much incapacitate you for a couple days. It's not something you need spreading as fast as it is.

4 of my friends have had swine flu and they all recovered within the week. The only people who are really at risk with swine flu are those with weaker immune systems (infants, old folk and those already disease-ridden)
