Update On The Arcade Fire

2006-07-19 by Stormy Smiley Face | 9 Comments
It has been announced by the Arcade Fire that they themselves will produce their follow-up to the 2005 record "Funeral".

"After trying to decide if we should work with any producers we kind of realized that we already know how we want things to sound so we should just run after that sound as far as we can and not rely on someone else to guide the good ship Arcade Fire...at least for now."

"We have been producing the record ourselves and working (with) two great engineers Scott Colburn..and Marcus Dravs...they have been been kind of trading off in two or three week shifts. We finished all the string section stuff with Sarah (Neufeld) and Owen (Pallett - aka Final Fantasy) which was as inspiring as ever..It was an intense three days of recording all day now Owen is off to Europe on tour with Final Fantasy."

"We talked about a lot of ideas for orchestration and Regine (Butler) and him are trading off midi files trying to get three songs arranged for late August...Regine and I are going to sneak away somewhere closer to the ocean for a week..so we can record some vocals...a lot of the songs remind me of being near the ocean at night time."

I only hope that it isn't a carbon copy of funeral. This is good news though!

Funeral pwns so hard, I just don't see them topping it really. If they do, I will cream my pants in outright joy.

if it's anywhere near funeral, i'll be happy. it'd take more than a year to top that imo tho.

Good move for The Arcade Fire. If all those mySpacers can do it, so can you!

All kidding aside any time a good band dumps their label I'm happy. Less chance of a follow up album sounding exactly like the last album.
