No more Weezer?

2006-07-12 by Damrod EMERITUS | 35 Comments
"I'm not sure if we will ever record an album together."

That were the words that Rivers Cuomos said in an interview with MTV. The Weezer front man has written quite an amount of new songs, but those are not intended for Weezer. According to Cuomos, the songs are not for Weezer, but not for a solo record either. Not yet at least. As no news about problems or fights surfaced, it seems that all that might lead to an end of Weezer are the feelings of their front man.

Asked about a Greatest-Hits album, the song writer reacted quite "unsatisfied". "I am not really convinced that we should release a Greatest Hits album at this point. I would like to have two additional great songs on there. Everything else would bore me. We will see. Currently I don't feel confortable with the thought"

They need to hang the hat now. "Make Believe" was horrid.

I love 'The Blue Album' and 'Pinkerton' must be one of the most underrated record ever but as Storm In A Teacup said they need to bow out now, they're out of time and ideasThis Message Edited On 07.12.06

It's such a shame, Pinkerton really is a masterpiece, but they've gone quite far downhill.

Eh, I don't care. They can't recapture the high they had in the nineties. Basically, listening to their mediocre new stuff is depressing.

Normally I would be really sad when one of my favorite bands breaks up, but their last album was so terrible, I really don't care that much.

Ehh. Yeah the new stuff sucks, but I still think Cuomo could write mindblowing stuff if he actually wanted to. But he doesnt.

These guys have written some great material, but based on their latest efforts, I'd say they are about done.

F*** Rolling Stone! If they hadn't named Pinkerton the worst album of 1996, then Rivers feeling's would never be hurt and Weezer probably would be able to maintain the genius of The Blue Album and Pinkerton and we could all be happy, but whatever. I'll miss them.

If they do record, I would be content with another Green Album, just not Make Believe.

Okay, Weezer used to have good music. I think part of the reason they are splitting up is because Rivers is realizing what they are turning into. Weezer has already lost dignity in most of their old fans eyes, so instead of just going back to the old music, he is starting a new band altogether.

Who knows, just a thought. Nutty.

The new album was probably the biggest waste of $12.00 I spent. I was actually excited for Make Beleive to come out back when it did since Weezer used to be a good band. In the garage will always be one of my favorite songs.
RIP Weezer

I really care, I think every album had that special something, but it looks like I'm the only one in the world. Rivers and Matt Sharp need each other; they're definately one of the greatest duos ever.

furhtermore, Rivers needs to let the band in on the songwriting, as someone else stated in a review, they're all pawns on the Rivers Cuomo bandwagon. Don't get me wrong, he's a great songwriter, but the spark isn't there that was present when Matt Sharp contributed.
