No, this is sort of a huge MEH.
|
| |
cannot decide yet about the song but the sound has me excited.
|
| |
I liked it, it isn't amazing but certainly not bad. It's a single after all. Bet it will end up being one of the weaker songs on the album.
|
| |
OMG OMG OMG BRAND NEW /JIZZ
Seriously, this isn't good at all. I hope the rest of the album is nothing like this.
|
| |
It got better towards the end. Don't know what's up with Jesse's vocals
|
| |
No access to youtube here. Can someone please explain why it's dissapointing?
|
| |
Oh, well.. I'm still awaiting September 22nd.
|
| |
Jesse's suddenly adopted a stupid accent a la Eminem
|
| |
This is nothing like Eminem's retarded accent. Am I the only one who's enjoyed this so far? : /
|
| |
Attempt at writing down the lyrics:
Wait, why did you throw out your bouquet
now i think about you everyday
I'm alone now in my bed
and there's a lake, at the bottom you'll
find all my friends
they don't swim cause they're all dead
we never are what we intend, or invent
Cause I make little lies and then I pull them apart
Think something dark is living down in my heart
And if I wanted to die before I got old
I should have started some years ago digging that hole
Ill carry this box to the proper place
And we’ll lower it down and let u fade away
I hope that you would do this for me
(I hope that you would do this for me)
Well ill serve you drugs on a silver plate
If I thought it would help u get away
I hope that you would do this for me
(I hope that you would do this for me)
Now dear, I don’t understand….
some dogs that got hit by cars all came to spill their guts
and we spoke about the father son and the holy ghost
and which songs we had loves the most
and we all turned to dirt and dust
some man die under the mountain just looking for gold
some die just looking for a hand to hold
Ill carry this box to the proper place
And we’ll lower it down and let u fade away
I hope that you would do this for me
(I hope that you would do this for me)
Well I’d serve you drugs on a silver plate
If I thought it would help u get away
I hope that you would do this for me
(I hope that you would do this for me)
I’m gunna take u down from the family tree?
Im probably going to burn out in the lake
Singing myself to sleep from the other side
we’re not gunna….
Ill carry this box to the proper place
And we’ll lower it down and let u fade away
I hope that you would do this for me
(I hope that you would do this for me)
Well I’d serve you drugs on a silver plate
If I thought it would help u get away
I hope that you would do this for me
(I hope that you would do this for me)
FUCK THIS. Need more Beggars.
|
| |
Ehh didn't like it at all
|
| |
Why doesn't everyone like it? o_O I thought it was really good...
|
| |
I just don't understand why he felt the need to change his voice. Otherwise, it's not that bad of a song.
|
| |
This is gonna be just like the new mewithoutYou. Everyone will whine about it and then suddenly decide it rules.
|
| |
I drug my heart with doublespeak
All my misgivings disappear
It helps me keep my conscience clean
The end justifies the means
Still I'm always careful what I hear
I don't wanna know who really pull the strings
Just as long as it's not you or me
S2 Thrice.
|
| |
I actually dig this. Just not as much as I was hoping to. But I have a feeling that the album will still kick.
|
| |
Why doesn't everyone like it? o_O I thought it was really good...
me and you both
|
| |
Song is meh, they have done sooo much better. Still hope the rest of the album is better than this.
|
| |
Why doesn't everyone like it? o_O I thought it was really good...
Because not everyone has bad taste on music?
I hope that this is the weakest song out of Daisy, but from what I've heard of their new songs live
and now "At the Bottom", this is shaping up to be a trainwreck. I'd rather listen to Beggars
and then Deja instead.
|
| |
Not really a fan of the song...
|
| |
I think this song rules. Sure its a tad boring but its a good sign of a solid album to come.
|
| |
It's like a Devil and God B-side. It's not bad, just average, and I like the band to much to listen to average stuff.
|
| |
o_O
|
| |
Because not everyone has bad taste on music?
bit of an unnecessary dick move there but ok
I actually agree with Cesar, could have passed off as a Devil and God B-side, although I do still really like the song
|
| |
Sounds like a rejected Modest Mouse song.
|
| |
Song is pretty good, but they do have better.
|
| |
Song is not great not bad I'm getting worried about the album.
|
| |
This is sputnik. What were you hoping for? Me being dickish about it doesn't change the fact that this song is completely MEH.
I'm utterly disappointed and expressing that, at least I'm not on denial.
|
| |
Why does this being sputnik make a difference to you not being able to comment on a song without acting as if your honour is at stake?
|
| |
This is the worst single they have ever put out.
|
| |
@Kirgasm
My God, what the hell are you talking about?
Jesus, calm down, kid. I'm sorry, your musical tastes are TEH awesome, can't we just chill now?
|
| |
however worried people get about this album and however god awful it turns out (not sayin it will) it's inconceivable that the average rating will be < 3.5
|
| |
That coming from the guy with the Daisy avatar... and I agree.
Agree with strikey too. I was disapointed with Beggars and I gave it a 3.5 because that's what it deserved. This might be heading in that same direction. A very good, but disapointing album.
|
| |
this sounds cool
|
| |
in jesse i trust, honestly
|
| |
It's good, I think they blended the folk well.
|
| |
I don't like the Modest Mouse-y beginning vocals. The song slowly gets better as it progresses. Not AMAZING though like I had high hopes of.
I have a feeling this song will go super mainstream though. I don't know, just a gut feeling.
|
| |
I have a feeling this song will go super mainstream though. I don't know, just a gut feeling.
I strongly disagree, this lacks the catchiness, which is why everyone is bitching about it.
|
| |
Like I said, just a gut feeling.
|
| |
Gasoline was really awesome.
Also apparently this version has a long intro that got cut off by whoever uploaded it to youtube.
|
| |
I think it's very catchy, maybe not in a typical way but it is.
|
| |
I have a feeling this song will go super mainstream though. I don't know, just a gut feeling.
I think that to and even more because Sowing Season was put in Guitar Hero 5.
|
| |
It's a radio edit.
Listening Deja Entendu to wash this taste out of my mouth right now.
|
| |
To be fair, Brand New are and have been relatively 'mainstream' ever since The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows and I've heard their songs in a lot of video games and TV shows, plus if I'm not wrong, didn't Deja Entendu go platinum or gold or whatever?
|
| |
Honestly, the song will be a grower, I've got a feeling. Besides Jesse's Blue October vocals during the verses, it's a pretty great song. I do hope he doesn't sing like that the entire album.
|
| |
I think it's very catchy, maybe not in a typical way but it is.
You mean in the typical way that would give it succesful mainstream exposure?
|
| |
Yep. Devil and God can be seen as overly-ambitious also, except Devil and God gets more hits than it does misses.
I'm excited.
|
| |
I am amazed at how boring that was. Maybe it's a grower, but Brand New can do a lot better than that.
|
| |
Song rules, hope this helps.
|
| |
3.5's are for albums that are simple/unoriginal yet still really good or albums that could have been a lot better (if everything worked out) but still really good. I don't really like this band anywho.
|
| |
point?
|
| |
Just discussion, bro.
|
| |
I dont know, but I am really liking this song.
|
| |
It doesn't sound that bad. Some of the lyrics are pretty lame though. Expectations are still high for the album.
|
| |
First listen i was like wtf...
Second listen i liked it better.
Third listen and the chorus is now stuck in my head. i really like it.
|
| |
Album's gonna be fine. Jesse Lacey called me and told me.
|
| |
not particularly bad, but not amazing either tbh. but then again i thought that about sowing season when i first heard it - and that's far from my favourite track on the devil and god...
|
| |
The album cover told me it would be great
|
| |
Jesse Lacey could piss in my ears and I'd listen and rate it like a 4
|
| |
To each his own.
|
| |
song rules, don't know why people are bitching about it
|
| |
lol ;)
|
| |
Breesus, you just made me lawl. Pat yourself on the back xP
|
| |
awesome.
|
| |
It was good.
|
| |
I vote for good song.
|
| |
Now really guys are you gonna argue with chan's opinion
srsly
|
| |
Aside from the awkward beginning I think it's really good, I'm surprised so many people don't like it.
|
| |
I don't think the beginning is awkward, but then again we haven't even heard the real beginning quite yet. Either way the song still rules.
|
| |
Oh come on, they couldn't release it with the first 40 seconds included? It's not like they're trying to top the charts.
|
| |
Oh come on, they couldn't release it with the first 40 seconds included? It's not like they're trying to top the charts.
It wasn't Brand New's idea, it's the stupid youtube video and its crappy quality.
|
| |
song was about as gay as the name Daisy
|
| |
I've started to like it grew on me after the third listen.
|
| |
a little underwhelming but still good.
|
| |
i'd rather hear it this way now, and leave the full version for when the album comes out.
|
| |
Brand New is my favorite band and I have to say, I've never liked anything they did the first time I heard it and this is no different, but its starting to really grow on me. TDAGARIM is, without a doubt, my favorite CD ever, so I had no expectations of this surpassing it. Should be a good follow up.
|
| |
I thought this was pretty good...
|
| |
Song still isn't good...
|
| |
Its a good song.
Bought a Bride is gonna be a hell of a song.
|
| |
Gasoline is awesome too.
|
| |
^ This.
|
| |
Not as good as Bought A Bride though.
|
| |
naw gasoline is better
|
| |
This reminds me of Modest Mouse. I hate modest mouse.
|
| |
Dissapointed, but i don't think it's that bad.
|
| |
It kinda reminded me of Modest Mouse also. I like Modest Mouse.
But I do hate your avatar.
|
| |
I really liked it actually.
|
| |
Like the verses, but that chorus is horrendous.
|
| |
this sounds fine what the fuck is wrong with all of you
|
| |
sounds alright
|
| |
this sounds fine what the fuck is wrong with all of you
that they were expecting better than fine
|
| |
I liked it, and I like the new vocal style as well.
|
| |
song is good rest of album will probably be better
|
| |
song is good rest of album will probably be better
agreed. all of brand new's material makes more sense in context of the album anyway.
|
| |
i think this song is great and will grow on me for sure.
there is a sick 192kbps rip on youtube now, a non-radio version.
album should be excellent.
|
| |
I thought the song was pretty good tbh
|
| |
yeah, this is pretty awesome. if one can make any implications from it, Daisy's going to be a lot grittier than the devil and god
|
| |
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhzTOFAV8C8
Full rip and full song. I love the chorus, but I hate Jesse's delivery of it. I think that my biggest peeve is that it could be so much fuckin better.
Well I carry this BOX to the proper PLACE
And when I lower it DOWN
I let it you fade AWAY
I hope that you would do this for me
I'd serve you DRUGS on a silver PLATE
If I thought it would HELP you get AWAY
I hope that you would do this for me
Why the HELL you had to sing this WAY, Jesse?
Regardless, I'm still hoping.
|
| |
That rip sounds a lot better, i'm digging it a bit more now, still not what I would consider a great song, but its good.
I think my biggest problem with it is that it seems like they are trying to cram too many lyrics into the song. I think a more simplistic approach to the lyrics and a better vocal melody would've made it a lot better. I wish the part after the second chorus had no vocals over it, it has that "Welcome to Bangkok" feel to it, but the vocals kind of ruin that moment.
Still, its a single, so its bound to be one of the lesser creative tracks on the album.
|
| |
SOMETHING IS GONE TERRIBLY WRONG
x
Don't get me wrong, I'm trying real hard to like this. Just not feeling it.
|
| |
yawn.
|
| |
pretty crap
|
| |
I've listened to this at least twenty times by now, and it's a real grower of a song. I think that both musically and lyrically it's strong enough. I'd say it's a solid 4/5 for sure - perhaps in context of the album (or as a result of more growing) it could reach a 4.5/5. This is in no way an foreboding sign - the record will be fine.
|
| |
4.5/5?
Really? I've listened this at least 30 times already and cant get into. Mediocre at best. A 3/5 would be a stretch.
|
| |
ehhhh 3.5
|
| |
after hearing the more complete version and after having the chorus stuck in my head I'll give it a 3. Reminds me of Sowing Season because I don't like that song much and skip it sometimes, but the rest of the album pwns. I'm hoping for this song and album to have a similar relation.
|
| |
this gets sweeter every time
|
| |
shit.
|
| |
Dude Sowing Season blew my mind the first time I heard it
|
| |
I'm with GoddamnBatman on this one. I wanna like it. But his voice isn't letting me.
|
| |

Already posted, holyroach. I hope some mod see this and edit the news.
|
| |
orly?
I keep saying this song is MEH. No other way around it.
|
| |
Meh song still meh.
And I love how the rabid Brand New fanboys will love this no matter how mediocre it is. I love Brand
New just as much as the next guy, but this sounds like a TDGARIM leftover.
|
| |
Alright the Hi-fi version was a lot nicer listen. This album will still rule.
|
| |
Should I resort to calling you names to please you? Dude, this song sucks. I'm trying real hard to
like it, I'm giving this more spins than it deserves but I can't get into this shit.
You can say whatever you want, but "All The World Is Mad" is a far superior single than this. Brand
New could do better, a hell lot better than this. And that's why people are complaining.
|
| |
Not really diggin' this too much, but I have high hopes for the rest of the album.
|
| |
I don't see why there is so much hatred for this song, it has the groove of Welcome to Bangkok with the emotional quality of most TDAGARIM songs, and brings to mind Deja Entendu without fucking up the song.
|
| |
The brand new fanboys are gonna eat this up huh? well brand new is not even in my top 10 favorite artists. But this single seems very good to me. No bias, I just like it.
|
| |
That whole second part of that post has no reason to be in this section.
|
| |
the hi-fi version actually does make a difference. this isn't bad by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not up to their potential. maybe this will be one of the lamer tracks. the chorus is the high point.
|
| |
hmm. youre right prophet.
|
| |
I don't see why there is so much hatred for this song, it has the groove of Welcome to Bangkok with

because while it does that it doesn't really flow well. it has a shitload of good ideas meshed together in one mediocre one that doesn't really make sense in the context of each separate idea.
|
| |
The accent is really annoying, where did it even come from?
Hopefully this isn't the best that Brand New has to offer.
|
| |
And I love how the rabid Brand New fanboys will love this no matter how mediocre it is.
that's a retarded thing to say
ever occur to you that not everyone has the same taste in music as yourself? your mediocre might be someone elses superb, it's called having an opinion.
|
| |
It has grown on me a bit but it doesn't eel like they've progressed from the previous album
|
| |
Chorus is alright, the rest is just dreadful. The scene will love it though.
|
| |
im surprised everyone didnt start loving it after chan said it was good
|
| |
i guess they like mr hanson more
|
| |
because while it does that it doesn't really flow well. it has a shitload of good ideas meshed together in one mediocre one that doesn't really make sense in the context of each separate idea.
I don't know about that. I could see you thinking this if you really just didn't like the type of music their "meshing together" but I think they did it pretty professionally.
|
| |
Its good, not the best Brand New song ever, but it is a good song. After hearing live versions of other songs, I have high hopes the album will rule anyways, with this song probably being this album's "The Archers Bows Have Broken". That's my opinion anyways...
|
| |
Before I clicked on this news I knew that Timberwolf would be doing his retarded trolling in here.
Song is ok, still looking forward to the album.
|
| |
great song.
|
| |
I've worked my ass off writing down the lyrics just so I could share the lyrics with people like you, PhantomLimb.
I love Brand New. I'm not into TDGARIM as much as everyone else, but that doesn't mean that I like them less than you do. The problem with this song is that it's just... not good enough. As someone has pointed, the lyrics are all over the place, but that's not even my biggest peeve. Jesse is sounding like a crossover between Isaac Brock and Kurt Cobain. Everytime I listen to this song, I think of In Utero's Heart-Shaped Box, and not in a good way.
They could do better. That's why I'm disappointed. Like other people here, I guess. But if you want me to play Jesus Christ and say I'm the only one that it's not digging this, fine. Go ahead.
|
| |
The intro on the MySpace version does make it a little better. I think it's an awesome song. I didn't like it at first, but it's definitely grown after like 10 listens.
|
| |
song is good
|
| |
I like it pretty well. It's kind of catchy which is to be expected of a single I guess.
|
| |
Song is good.
|
| |
