4.5 superb | cloakanddagger | May 11th 23 | If you'd told me back in 2012 that The Acacia Strain would eventually release a 3-track doom metal album where all the songs are 10+ minutes long, I definitely wouldn't have bought that. I'm so glad they have though, this is great.

4.0 excellent | Bloodnutter09 | May 12th 23 | The Acacia Strain releasing a doom metal album that hits hard with resentful, nihilistic despair. The long, slow burn songs really evoke the listener on a journey with the band as they take you with them on a path of desperation. Driving whilst looking out the window the world is colourful but bleak at the same time.rCan't wait to listen to this album dozens more times and let it grow and evolve.

3.5 great | MisogynysticTryhard | May 12th 23 | Highly forgettable record. Great idea, but that doesn?t make the music interesting

3.5 great | hesperus | May 16th 23 | it sounds exactly like an album from a metalcore band that just recently heard about this cool thing called sludge metal and wanted to give it a try but were too chickenshit to fully commit to the stylistic change, but it's surprisingly competent for an album with that description. at times (especially on bog walker) it executes the style admirably, and at others it just sounds like their typical metalcore schtick in slow motion. get back to me when you've heard more stuff from the classic NOLA scene and learned how to change your guitar tone, lads

3.0 good | ConcubinaryCode | May 15th 23 | 12 albums deep it was time for a
shakeup in their sound and this
is welcome. All the ingredients
are here for a career defining
album for the band, powerful
riffs, great vocals, terrific
production, a sense of doom and
gloom Acacia has toyed with since
the depression sessions, but the
connective tissue in the song
structure is too stringy at too
many points for me to
collectively lose my shit over.

1.5 very poor | ajcollins15 | May 15th 23 | The man who is in charge of this band should sit them down and tell them never to make a doom metal album ever again. The band?s second half of the dual album series shows the band diving into an entirely new area of extreme metal where they take on doom metal and even post-metal. However, the group really shows that they have no idea what they are doing from the awkward instrumental change-ups to the off-putting production choices on the vocals. Plus, the inclusion of some pretty well-deserved names in the sludge and doom-metal genre also makes me think I should just listen to them instead. Overall, it?s an awkward listening experience that will have you bored or angry (if not both), turning it off after the first 10-minute track is over.

4.5 superb | syco722 | May 14th 23 | I'm no expert in the genre, but bog walker just joined funeralopolis and dragonaut as one of my all-time favorite doom tracks

4.0 excellent | judasgoat | May 13th 23 | Acacia Strain are natural doomsters and I absolutely hope they keep going in this direction in the future. Out of both albums they dropped, this is for sure the better of the two.
